I've seen these comments from people saying TRUMP was a better president than Lincoln
For me, Lincoln is just about the greatest president in American history and one of the greatest leaders in Western history. Trump doesn't even come close.

History remembers Lincoln as being the greatest president. He navigated the country through the civil war and mended the nation when it was over. He was assassinated so history remembers him in the best possible light and forgets the failures that he had.
The world is a much more complex place and there is a lot more moving parts to administer. We have many sectors with a much larger budget and a global economy. We have instantaneous communication and a 24/7 news cycle. Trump had navigated all of it in spite of a hostile press and an opposing political party that has impeached him twice and weaponized the DOJ to make up imagined crimes and tried and convicted him in a partisan court. He had a partisan court convict him of 30 year old assault despite having no witnesses and no evidence. He was the victim of multiple assassination attempt in which one of them he was shot. He came out the other side a stronger candidate and made the biggest political comeback in American history.
We have to rely on the history books when we judge Lincoln but was have lived through the transformation of Donald Trump from a real estate developer and a game show host to the holder of the highest office in the world.
Trump still has his whole second term in front of him. If the next 47 months are anything like the last month I think he will be known as the greatest president ever.
Trump isn't even a match for Reagan, he's not going to be the best American president in history. And yes, once again, Lincoln wasn't perfect, but it's a truism to say that. What's more, Lincoln had to deal with a civil war that claimed more American lives than the two world wars put together. Trump is in a much simpler situation. Because even if the state has become "bigger", it also has many, many more associates and aid than in Lincoln's time.
The greatest president ever? Voldemort was great too. He was blown to bits in the end.
Trump will NEVER break out of the bottom 5% of POTUSs. No schools gonna be named for this PoS đ©
Lmfao. Just lmfao. Trump is a full-on buffoon. The rest of the world is laughing at us.
Lincoln did some great things, but it should be noted that he was pretty racist in his own right. From an 1858 debate with Stephen DouglasâŠ
https://mason.gmu.edu/~zschrag/hist120spring05/lincoln_ottawa.htm
âI have no purpose to introduce political and social equality between the white and the black races. There is a physical difference between the two, which, in my judgment, will probably forever forbid their living together upon the footing of perfect equality, and inasmuch as it becomes a necessity that there must be a difference, I, as well as Judge Douglas, am in favor of the race to which I belong having the superior position.â - Abraham Lincoln
America is overall disappointing historically. Itâs hard to find heroes out of this crop.
Exactly.
And people also forget that Lincoln wasnât fighting the war to âend slaveryâ either
Donald Trump has described himself as the most âpresidentialâ candidate since the first Republican president, Abraham Lincoln.
A real man vs a cardboard cut out.
Trump lacks genuine substance. All he can do is tear down. And fan the flames.
He is knee jerk reacting to suggestions without viewing the entire scope of full damage those simple choices are creating. This is why judges are stepping in and hitting brakes...
@dustybiker2. The judges are all political hacks covering the butts of fellow democrats
@exitseven They are doing their jobs. Legally. Not buying, threatening and manipulating their way through life, unlike the buffoon in office. Americans biggest embarrassment round 2.
@exitseven Don't overthink it.
@dustybiker2 sorry but the louder they scream the more frightened that they are. Why are they so frightened?
@exitseven Fox hiring actors again? Come back to the light.
@dustybiker2 Fox is not perfect but look at all the things you would have never heard about if you never watched it.
@exitseven I watch unbiased world news and see the reality that both sides edit out. Not fabricate as fox and the like are known to.

Why do you think Lincoln was such a great president?
Trump is a bloody disaster. He sits at his desk in the oval office, staring into space, while Elon Musk, high as a kite, looking like he just got out of bed, babbles on and on with reporters. This thing is a joke. Can you imagine Putin or Xi Jinping, despite what they are, making such a fool of themselves on TV? I've never seen anything like this, not from any former U. S. President. . . Republican or Democrat. And to let a bunch of kids that just started shaving last week sift through very sensitive government information, programs, and documents, and then pluck out whatever the fuck they want willy nilly is too absurd for comment. And the tariffs? Well other countries are already bargaining with each other as we speak to recoordinate trade and supply amongst themselves and the hell with the United States because they don't live in 1913 or whatever the fuck year he keeps citing, where they kicked horse shit around on the streets and hauled wagons. They're operating in a completely integrated global economy in the 21st century with fast travel and high technology. That's how they navigate trade in the present time. No country can produce absolutely everything it needs on its own soil. No country can or ever has. Countries are blessed with resources others don't have and vice versa based mostly on geography. That's why they trade commodities. It works. Only a fucking idiot thinks he can " make everything at home".
Comparable to Lincoln? Yeah it doesn't come close indeed.
Honest Abe Lincoln was extremely cultured, intelligent, competent, human, and he had an unshakeable faith in democracy, freedom and peace. He was a role-model. He was unique and legendary.
Felon Donnie Trump is a convicted criminal, incredibly stupid, incompetent, sociopathic, petty, childish and fascist. He's in it for himself and for a handful of boot-licking billionaires. He creates problems instead of solving them. He's anti-american as f*ck. He's a narcissistic piece of dog sh*t. He's trash.
They're the exact opposite.
Quite right!
Nah. They're identical. You just have the benefit of hindsight for one of them.
@julie4 Before you make that assertion consider this:
Remember while Lincoln was President, when the war was almost over and winding down, Sherman - "Mad Dog Sherman" as he was called, began his march through the south and burned Atlanta to the ground, leaving a trail of destruction in his wake. That was completely unnecessary and and warranted. You think Trump would call for the destruction of Iran, North Korea, Iraq?
Sherman's march was one main cause of so much bitterness in the South after the war. I think Lincoln was a good President, and he did not have any control over his Generals in the field or Sherman would have never done that.
Eisenhower was in control of George Patton and when Patton fucked up like he did, Eisenhower took his command of the Third Army away from him. Even with Patton striking a soldier in a hospital... Eisenhower knew and basically cut his balls off.
Sherman's tactics, though brutal, were designed to demoralize the enemy and hasten the end of the war, a strategy that many historians consider a key factor in the Union victory. Besides, there's no telling what Trump would do in such a situation.
But then again, if you want to tell me that Lincoln was imperfect, I'll give you that, but it's a truism.
Shermanâs March to the Sea during the Civil War caused significant damage and had several effects:
britannica. com+2
Economic loss for the Confederacy
Diminished Confederate morale
Deep resentment in Southerners
Estimated $100,000,000 in damage (equivalent to about $1.6 billion today)
10,000 liberated slaves joined Shermanâs army
Union forces seized livestock, corn, and wrecked railroad tracks and telegraph lines

War is not a summer camp. Of course it's horrible and profoundly inhuman. But that doesn't change anything about Lincoln's overall achievements, again that doesn't mean he was perfect. And secondly, it doesn't change the fact that we don't know what Trump would have done in such a situation.
I wouldn't compare the two.. but it's like trying to compare a boxer from the 1800s to a modern day boxer. It's not the same situation. Trump has to fight a massive federal government with millions of employees... in his last admin he had military leaders outright plotting against his fully legal orders & secretly talking to the Chinese military behind his back. The media is also largely controlled by intelligence agencies and has been since at least the 1950s -- some info about that leaked out around the JFK assassination -- Lincoln didn't have that to deal with.
So it's like seeing someone cut butter with a hot knife (lincoln) and someone cut a tree with a chain saw.
yes, once again, Lincoln wasn't perfect, but it's a truism to say that. What's more, Lincoln had to deal with a civil war that claimed more American lives than the two world wars put together. Trump is in a much simpler situation. Because even if the state has become "bigger", it also has many, many more associates and aid than in Lincoln's time.
While I myself know next to nothing about politicss, even I myself know this is pure bullshit, lol.
When I see people talk about Lincoln they basically always talk about how much they respect him and how many great things he accomplished throughout history, and how he inspired a lot of people both adults and children. While with Trump it's almost always "Trump did this controversial thing" or "holy shit Trump said something he really shouldn't have" or shit like that. And Trump seems to have 50/50 opinions on him. Either people absolutely hate him or absolutely love him. No in-between. And "Trump supporters" are usually portrayed as not so good people... lol.
But yeah. Lincoln is way better and it's not even close, really.
I donât like comparing modern presidents to presidents especially George Washington and Abraham Lincoln.
Like, if I were to say âJoe Biden is a modern day Washingtonâ or âJoe Biden is a modern day Lincolnâ is stupid and ludicrous just like comparing Trump to them.
Abraham Lincoln brought North & South together reuniting The Union, Made great strides to achieve the First Transcontinental Railroad, Established Department of Agriculture, Freed The Slaves, honest, Homestead Act, National Banking Act, etc. President Abraham Lincoln has his place in American History and it is positive. Time will tell what holds in store for Obama, Trump, Biden, and Trump pt. 2
Its an impossible comparison to make.
Lincoln dealt with a different world. Different technologies and lifestyles and therefore beliefs overall
One can argue that Trump has it harder when any entity with their own agenda can corrupt the masses through social media misinformation
But saying that makes Trump better is not correct either.
Linc abolished slavery and changed the course of history forever.
For Trump to be mentioned in the same conversation we will need him to truly change something that people thought unchangeable
And itâs doubtful he succeeded
Lincoln is a high bar to compare any political leader too. It is hard to find fault with a man who banned slavery though the UK leaders who did ban slavery in 1807 & 1833 are not.
A leader like Churchill became great by uniting and giving people resolve.
A cynical thought creeps into my mind that divisive leaders can become great if they win the battles and subsequently unite.
Trump is doing well on the divisive side across the world at the mo. We would all have to admit that.
I think you might be giving Lincoln the benefit of historical mythology and hindsight a lot more than you realize. That is to say; I think you think highly of Lincoln because you have the benefit of knowing how everything worked out.
From a practical standpoint, Lincoln and Trump's behavior are extremely similar.
Both of them have rough cut images and personalities. Both have taken control of bureaucracies trying to rebel beneath them. Both have had earnest attempts on their lives. Both use an extremely bold and aggressive approach to presidential power to quash an insurrection.
If Trump scares you, Lincoln unquestionably would have made your blood run cold.
Trump isn't even as good as Andrew Johnson. Trump is here to tear things up so that he can grift unchallenged. It would also appear the he would like to declare himself forever president to make it very difficult to prosecute him. I'm not aware of any president that could be described as worse.
I shre your admiration of President Lincoln. Complex and amazing figure.
Shows how bad the American Education system is if one thinks this. Biden could be sleeping and be a president in this current day oh wait he did.
Been a president in modern times really ain't a hard job, like anything the job was harder in the past so just by simple logic trump couldn't be oh yeah and there was that little thing called civil war I am sure that wasn't way more important than ya know typical media retorts.
Surely not.
For all his flaws he had a difficult task, and didn't have all the greatest ideas on how to do that task, but yeah I agree I think that it's silly to compare Trump to Lincoln..
Aw yeah I feel that one.. Although, I personally do feel that if Trump plays his cards right, and continue giving even a little more power and money back to the people, he will be considered one of the greatest Presidents..
They're both Republicans and have some similarities. However, while I don't think Trump is as evil as most people think he is, he is for sure not even in the same league as Lincoln.
He's no evil. He's ignorant, sociopathic and stunted with mental health disorders.
Magats are not capable of "thinking seriously", so this question is moot. If they were, they wouldn't be magats. They are so deeply entrenched in the worship of there fuhrer that reasoning is not only unreachable, but forbidden.
I wasn't actually trying to compare them. Are most presidents better than Lincoln?
I KNOW he is a hell of a lot better than Obama, Hillary, Biden and Kamala. That's for damn sure.
It
Is
A
Cult
They worship him. He's a God. It's evangelical christo-fascism & extreme right wing terrorists in thrall to the elite they claim to hate. It's so sad.
I've heard people literally refer to his as a god here and they're not kidding. It's crazy.
Trump is the second coming of Lincoln, Biden was the Second Coming of Buchanan
Some people placing Trump above Lincoln is one hell of a wild take lol
Lincoln did correspond with Karl Marx, where Marx congratulated him on his victories. Would anyone really want to be associated with Karl Marx?
They had aligned views so of course, Lincoln wanted to create more rights for the working people just like Marx, and abolish practices that were slavery or akin to.
Also Lincoln had no fear to be so, Marx wasn't well known back then in US nor did the whole rubbish Stalin thing happen yet so while Marx was still controversial he wasn't ruined by the reputation of what Russia went and did.
@exitseven read zinn & others like him. Those stories are there.
Those were different times. Also, Lincoln literally suspended due process and wanted to deport all the freed blacks to Belize
Also, I don't know if it's really fair to compare modern presidents to old presidents. It was a different society back then.
No, but Lincoln was an idiot. If he was so great, he would have prevented the civil war from happening.
No, because your analysis doesn't take into account the complexity of the causes of the conflict or the circumstances in which Lincoln exercised his leadership. Preventing the Civil War would have required favorable circumstances and a resolution of structural conflicts that had already been brewing for a long time.
Abraham Lincoln's election in 1860, which led to the secession of several Southern states, was the result of decades of tension over slavery, economic and political differences between North and South, and a constitutional debate over states' rights.
But if you also want to tell me that Lincoln was imperfect I'll grant you that, but I didn't say Lincoln was God.
Trumps Top 3 all time. Everyone will say so in 100yrs just as Dems now love Lincoln but hated him during their lifetimes
Commence disappointment
His cult members will tell you they think so.
Well, historians usually rank Lincoln is the best president in US history, along with Washington and FDR.
Trump better than Lincoln? Thatâs hilarious 😆 😆😆😆😆. I rather have a bug being commander n chief than that orange train wreck
Trump is a bullshitting con artist piece of shit.
Everyone with an IQ over 40 knows Trump is the greatest President ever.
No one serious voted for Trump.
@Paige90 you really don't see the danger trump MAGA represents do you? Ah to be young!
Just the retarded people
They both look hideous to me
A mindless Trumpbot would think it !!!
Only time will tell.
10000%
