I always cut through a parking lot as a shortcut, it's a 2 way street, but today there were parked cars on both sides, effectively making it a 1 way street. I had to back up to get out cause the cars going the other way didn't have room. But they're beeping and getting agitated like it's my fault.

If you are going "against traffic" and that's the primary exit of the parking lot, then, yes, you are in the wrong. In fact, it sounds like using the parking lot as a shortcut puts you in the wrong on a regular basis, and you're just used to getting away with it because the parking lot isn't heavily used most of the time you cut through it.

I get it - I would probably do the same thing - but on those occasions when the parking lot is full, then you need to realize that you are the one not using the parking lot as intended, and thus it's you who needs to accommodate the other drivers, not the other way around.

No, it's 2 way, there's speed bumps, words written on both sides, I'm not the only one who does this

I'm sure you aren't the only one, but again, it's a parking lot, and its primary purpose is for people to park. When the lot is full, and the lane is narrowed to one way, people using the parking lot for its intended purpose have the right of way, not people using the parking lot as a shortcut.

Yes it is your fault. Besides if a cop sees you cut through the parking lot he might write you up/ I found this out the hard way
