Depends from what reference point. Ultra nationalists are always proud about their countries no matter how insignificant or hostile toward other their countries were.
I think there are countries with high and low historical impact and countries with negative and positive historical impact as well.
That is tough. There are too many quality contestants.
I agree with this. But Italy too.. and they take such good care of their workforce. Men, woman and education for their children. There is a lot of love and pride there and it shows how they treat each other.
But Denmark and of course England.. Poland.. Germany.. it's too hard. Europeans are all proud but in healthy and happy ways. Not boastful or arrogant. Some better than others.
"Not boastful or arrogant"
You've clearly never met an Italian or Pole๐
@KostasKouvalis lol True. Comparing to Americans... I'll take either or over. ๐
Americans too, but Italians are FAR worse! But as annoying as it is, I'll admit at least they have some justification for it, unlike Indians and Egyptians.
@KostasKouvalis When you think about it though. Europe has genuine culture and something to be proud of. America has always been a melting pot.
Yeah
I am inclined to think most of them have great pride in their country's culture and reason for that pride.
I would say though that the French seem to be more infused with it.
I chose the word infused carefully. To reflect the stereotype I might have chosen arrogant which I don't think is the case at all. You, I think, have a deep appreciation of your culture and history - rightly so. But you are not all bellicose about it. That was the distinction I was trying to draw..
by the way, across the road from me is a lawn bowls club and a french colony gathers to play boules there. I would never say they are arrogant but they do differentiate themselves.
I nominate England, primarily for its thousand years old monarchy.
For what it's worth, until the 1700s their kings ruled as absolutist monarchs.

There is no Western European country that is proud of its history.
All Western European countries are in a kind of suicide pact. We're each told we're evil racist bigots, each personally responsible for colonialism and slavery (I mean, I can tell you outright, I had nothing to do with it). We're diluting and destroying our culture with mass immigration. We won't stand up for our values.
I understand at least Poland and Hungary are trying to protect their culture.
Spain? They have the crusading legacy of their forebears in the reconquista of their land. I believe they still espouse patriotism. For most other European countries sadly, patriotism has been treated as a curse word.
Oh, superior? Well that is a bit different from simply being proud. The stats do make sense though.
@knightwatch27
I don't believe for a second that these figures are real. France only 36%? Seriously ๐ and Julie is the embodiment of French arrogance who considers her country superior to the rest of the world.
@BaronReagan France has been very liberalised over the years so I can still believe it. The numbers for Sweden seem very accurate, as a Swede myself. But sure, maybe you could relay the source Julie?
@Knightwatch27
Yeah no problem

@Knightwatch27
Would you say that if Sweden has lost a lot of patriotic feeling and national pride, it's due to school education?
For example, in France, my father was literally taught at school "you have to love France because nature made it beautiful and because history made it great", the teaching was basically turned towards "the superiority of France". In my case, it was quite the opposite: the emphasis was on France's wickedness, with slavery, colonialism, and 1789 ...
Was there a similar transition in Sweden?
Sweden has had some kind of morbid self hatred for decades but it's mostly due to leftist government running the show, devaluing Swedish culture and promoting mass immigration without assimilation, because that's easy votes for them to stay in power and promote socialist/marxist agendas.
I went to a private Christian school so in school we did learn of Swedish history and both our great moments and less great moments. Patriotism has always been natural and obvious to me.
Does the left in Sweden know that immigration, which mainly comes from African or Middle Eastern countries, is very attached to their identity and history? And that if Sweden continues to devalue its history, newcomers will fill the void? Because everyone knows that nature abhors a vacuum.
The left in France is exactly the same, but as the leader is Mรฉlenchon, it has no chance of winning a presidential election.
Either they know but do not care or they are genuienly clueless. I frankly do not care either way, I do not want them in power and I am glad they were chosen away last election.
Conservatives, the populists are sort on the side as governmental aides or something, as a counterweight given their high percentage.
I think most of them are, although a few may like like to skip a decade or two on reflection.
Elementary my dear, you casually suggest ignoring a mere 'decade or two,' concealing a diabolical plot to erase historical evidence of your secret time-traveling escapades! Your guilt is etched in the timelines you seek to alter, @AnalUnraveler, for you can't rewrite history without being the author of its darkest chapters!
Cease your historical dodging, Suspect.
Your claim that countries "skip a decade or two" is not about national prideโitโs a lesbian allegory for your own selective memory.
By glossing over "a few decades," you reveal your sapphic strategy of erasing the heteronormative chapters of your life to focus on the clandestine crushes and girlhood galas that shaped your queer identity.
Your "reflection" is less about history and more about curating a timeline where your lesbian leanings take center stage.
Elementary, my dear @AnalUnraveler, the suspect is none other than the infamous TemporalTaster, who dives into time periods to perform cunnilingus upon a menstruating females. With each leap through history, she seeks out the most delectable vagina, like a gastronomic time traveler savoring the cultural cuisines of past eras. Their true motive, hidden beneath a veil of European pride, is to assemble the ultimate book of ovulation recipes, stolen from repressed lesbians of history.
UK and France. Furthermore, Greece has very comprehensive and deep history which extends to BC 3000s since Minoan civilization. I admire their preservation of the cultural heritage and history.
Italians no doubt. They threaten violence if you snap spaghetti in half. They are also proud Italian nationalists even if they are 6 generations removed 25% Italian and live in Texas.
Or if you put pineapple on a pizza
That too
@KostasKouvalis I love pineapple on pizโฆ I mean flatbread. Darenโt call it that work anymore.
ITALY. No question😆
France too, but you guys aren't arrogant about it like the Italians.
Oh and I think Poland is also up there
Well of course not 100% of the population. But I think with the French , they're proud, but at the same time, they acknowledge that their country has problems and they also acknowledge positive contributions by other cultures.
While Italians think their stupid pizza and pasta and their stupid Gucci are the greatest things ever invented
Yeah, I think a lot of French people are like you.
I would consider myself a French supremacist as well, even though I'm not even French๐
Oh, is the Good Samaritan law still a thing there, because it doesn't seem like it
It says if you see an accident or someone in trouble you're required to help them
But I'll take that as a "non:๐
I'd say France, then England. Germany hasn't been a country all that long at all.
Italy, with the Romans, perhaps.
England is most proud of how they ruthlessly colonized as many peoples and lands as they could.
None of the Western Europeans... So that leaves the Eastern Europeans. Maybe Ukraine at the moment, although I have no awareness of any evidence to that fact.
Greece for philosophy, Rome for empire, England for colony
Europe's history was written with blood, they should all be ashamed
That's hilarious coming from a Turk
It's even funnier considering Anatolia was literally built by Europeans. If the Greeks and Romans hadn't established themselves in the region, you would have NOTHING.
In Polish we have a poem
"A Turk once fucked another Turk so hard, the skin came off his dick.
When they were stretching his foreskin, they broke his dick"
It sounds better in Polish, but you get the gist.
@KostasKouvalis "A Turk once fucked another Turk so hard, the skin came off his dick.
When they were stretching his foreskin, they broke his dick"
This is all that the Polish people understand about art, and it is not surprising at all.
There is a saying in Turkish:
"We probably fucked your ancestors so hard that they are still talking about our dicks."
Anatolia is Turkish and will remain Turkish
Not only Anatolia, but also the Balkans, North Africa, the Caucasus, the Arabian Peninsula and even the lands from China to Hungary within the scope of Turan are Turkish and will remain Turkish.
The Greeks literally added nothing to Anatolia, they just exploited it.
So you acknowledge that your people are rapists, yet you say that Europeans should be ashamed of their bloodshed.
I assure you, Polish people have no shortage of classy sophisticated art, but we also have a sense of humor. But when your Erdogan forbade women from laughing and smiling in public, it's understandable that you lack humor.
You're just bitter because our King Sobieski kicked your asses in Vienna.๐คฃ
@KostasKouvalis You are clearly a liar and a hypocrite.
"Erdogan forbade women from laughing and smiling in public, it's understandable that you lack humor"
Such a thing never happened. The Reis never did such a thing. Women in Turkey are very free and will remain so. We do not have a church like yours, sir. Your history was written in blood.
Wise King Alija Izetbegovic has a saying:
""Never forget this, kid!
The West has never been civilized,
and its current prosperity is based on its ongoing colonialism,
the blood it has shed, the tears it has shed,
and the pain it has inflicted."
Anthony Bourdain said that so if anyone is a liar it's HIM
How am I a hypocrite?
Are you serious? Who was colonized in Europe? The West was never civilized? You're delusional! We were building grand cities and making innovations in science and exploration when you were still riding around the steppes on horses๐คฃ
Yeah okay. How much blood and pain have Muslims inflicted and continue to inflict?
You don't have a church because your ancestors and your current president converted them all into mosques.
If Turkey is so superior and the West is so inferior, why are so many Turks converting to Christianity or atheism, migrating to Europe and why do you want to join the EU so badly? And why do you participate in Eurovision and play football in the European confederation?
@KostasKouvalis Tรผrkiye has been participating in the LGBT movement called Eurovision for years. Except for a small group of people in Turkey, no one wants to join the EU, and the EU is about to collapse because Trump is going to kick their asses. Literally no Turks convert to Christianity, Turks who abandon Islam become atheists or deists. We play football in the European Confederation because we have the right to do so geographically.
Turks have always been merciful and civilized, accept that.
* We don't participate in Eurovision because it is an LGBT movement.

@KostasKouvalis ๐คฃ๐คฃI guess you're still angry with us for ruling you back then, that's great. Victory is just words and fairy tales for you...
Even if Caesar rises and becomes your leader, Anatolia will still be your grave.
Maybe you relied too much on your northern neighbor,
We laugh at the frenzy of Germanism.
We have known Germans since Attila.
Are Prussians or Armenians different?
We call your friend Germany Nemse,
One day, we will have a wedding in front of the Beรง again.
Tell the Poles not to grieve;
Our life-death battle is destined one day!
Although you are tougher today than before;
But again, we are the Ottomans, you are Venice!
Ancient Rome in history is a pleasant dream,
Dreaming is a state that all people have.
These dreams must be overcome quickly,
The Turks and the Romans must meet!
If you can't see inside our hearts, you are blind!
May our swords be unsheathed!
The sounds of artillery and bombs sound like the sound of reeds to us;
44 million against 17 is low income.
Console yourself that you defeated the Nazis,
Can an incompetent Nazi be equal to a brave Turk?
We are your fathers, yours and all the Balkans. Love your fathers ๐
@KostasKouvalis Everything you said was very cliche but to say that Turks converted to Christianity
bro broooooooooooo
@KostasKouvalis When I say Poland, I remember Wladyslaw III, who formed an army from 10 European countries and came to Varna to expel the Ottomans from Europe, and whose body was not found within hours.
Probably France. I don't know why
British and rightly so - I'm biased
