Why do people say that women care less about looks than men?

To me its one of the biggest lies ever told. Both genders care about looks equally

Because for millenia women have had to basically settle for whatever man chose her. Or whatever man her father decided she should marry. So up until about a 100 years. Ago women didn't have the luxury of CHOOSING an attractive man. So we're just now starting to be able to deserve how shallow SOME women's choices can actually be when they get to choose.👍

Because relatively speaking, it's true. Women are more willing to overlook unattractiveness if a man has other qualities, like money or prestige. Men on the other hand don't care about a woman's money or prestige.

Yeah but there's a basic threshold of looks both genders have when looking for potential partners. The initial attraction is always looks. Most women entertain anything else if you're not attractive first
