What is your response to a law you disagree with?

We all are aware of laws we dislike. How do you deal with these if they affect you in some way?

I follow the law.

I follow the law and, at the same time, work to change it, legally.

I ignore the law and do what I think is right.

There are dumb and ridiculous laws everywhere. Some that are on the books are ignored pretty much by all. For instance, everyone ignores the speed laws to some extent. But even 5 miles over is against the law. But, if everyone disobeyed the laws there would be chaos and death as a result. Such as running red lights. But, if you are going to be a lawbreaker then why even have laws? Let everyone do their thing and then watch the results on YouTube.

Depends who's around to enforce the law. That is only as good as that law will be.

Sorry for being pedantic but "unjust" is a better phrasing.

this leads to why I love jury duty so much. It's a jury of peers you have to communicate what is and what isn't right. At the end of the day the community has to dealing with the consequences. Putting a fellow neighbor away isn't good for the neighborhood but someone dangerous is something worse.

So I don't think there is a wrong way to do things fighting unjust laws. You just need to time your advances just right.

I'm a fan of malicious compliance. Like the people who called into work gay to protest when being gay was classed as an illness, or the boys who wore skirts to school to protest girls not being allowed to wear pants to school.

Granted, compliance rarely works as well to make change happen, but it can depending on what needs to change and how.

I never cared about the law. Usually, but not always, my own views were in line with the law. But when they weren't, I simply ignored the law, or intentionally disobeyed it out of principle.

Guess that's why I've been arrested so many times. I never complained about it though. I knew I was breaking the law and knew there were consequences.

It's a civic duty to break stupid laws. Can't have the government thinking they can make any stupid law they want and people will obey it.

Very few laws have much impact on my life. I drive at the de facto speed limit, which is about 10 mph above the posted speed limit. I pay taxes as required because the consequences for not paying are severe. Fortunately I have never had any desire to partake in banned substances. I would ignore laws that forbid compassionate acts.

That depends on the law. My cousin lives in a regressive red state that thinks a 10 year old should carry an embryo to term. If my 10 year old first cousin once removed, were to get pregnant say from a rape or assault (it IS a red state!), I'd definitely help get her to a sane state for medical attention. That's a law that should be broken, a no-brainer.

In Massachusetts I believe there is a law that you must bring a gun to Church just in case of Indian attack and I’m sure no one actually participates in it. I definitely am not.

It's not a crime if you aren't caught. Mostly try to obey the law but there's a difference between the laws of man and the laws of God.

I disregard laws that are stupid. Obviously you shouldn’t rape or kill anyone. But if I approach a red light at midnight, and there’s not a single car coming any in any other direction, I’m going right through it. Sorry, not sorry 🤷‍♂️
