With me, I wouldn’t know since I leaned towards the right wing from 2015-2018 I think if my memory is correct then I started having doubts from late 2018 to early 2019…..
I researched on varying topics I had confidence I was 100% right on certain things, though while comparing both sides and hearing both sides explain things…. Something changed in me.
I could go on in deeper detail, though I’ll simply say if I didn’t take a look in the mirror and question my core beliefs, probably would be on the far right of the spectrum instead of being ‘Centrist’. The reason I say I’m a Centrist is I believe in hearing from the right wing and left wing in order to reach a common ground to form a basis for a solution for all, not just a solution for the few.
I support the idea & concepts of government efficiency, small government, promotion of small businesses (having a sort of Capitalist mindset) while also standing for progressive movement, civil rights movement, and women’s rights too. And just because someone spits out words that agree with my ‘core beliefs’ doesn’t mean I can’t criticize / hold accountable what I deem as bullshit or something I personally don’t agree with in an opinionated sense.
It's people who don't like being told what to do. People who reject laws and rules designed only to keep the masses running smoothly in their day to day lives.
Incidences build up in people. "I didn't deserve that parking ticket, I was only on the red curb for five min." "I can't believe that immigrant who went through the long ordeal of obtaining their green card was better than me and was offered the job." "I heard lies on the news democrats want our guns."
These are people programed by sources that trigger their hate and rage and keep them in that perpetual state. To the point they feel ill when they start to come down from it. It becomes a drug. It makes people easily manipulable to the point they don't notice or care. It feels good. It's fun.
Choosing right wing ideals, knowing it will cause irreparable harm to other people. Like wanting abortion bans, state sponsored religions, killing of ideological enemies etc.
Being trad con and such isn't an extreme thing. It's just a traditional preference and that's fine

In world terms, EXCLUDING the United States, today's Democrats are centre-right. They are MUCH FATHER starboard than the Republican Party was from the 1940's to the 1970's and arguably farther right the the GOP until the Reagan era.
I see all right wing as extremists. As been aganist progress of society is an extreme thing, creatures adapt all the time it's natural so wanting everything to go back or stay the same is an extreme view.
However if we want a fairer distinction, the real far ones are those who believe everything trump says, and that he can't fail at anything.

Extremist means having opinions based on extreme interpretations of what's going on. Such things that come to mind would be climate change denial, preference for old technology and keeping things in the status quo rather than allow for development of freedoms and opportunities for those not privileged.
Typically they think they deserve their status and that they should be the ones to benefit from any change and if it allows others to benefit or even move toward equalisation then it is not good.
For me, it's all about informing the misinformed, which is also a big part of being from the Southern United States. I'm talking about so-called "white supremacy."
