Whats your oppinion of Brooke Rollins nomination for Secretary of Agriculture?

Brooke Rollins was nominated by Senate with bipartisan Senate vote 72-28. She is the second woman to hold the position, after Ann Veneman (who served under George W. Bush).

Raised by a single mom Helen Kerwin (who was elected to the Texas House of Representatives in 2024, with Rollins running her mother's campaign), Rollins previously served as deputy general counsel, ethics advisor, and policy director to Texas governor Rick Perry. After that she was the president and CEO of the Texas Public Policy Foundation, an Austin-based conservative think tank, from 2003 through 2018 and later served as the president and CEO of the other conservative think tank - America First Policy Institute, that was founded founded in 2021 to plan the policy agenda for a second Trump administration. Between that, Rollins oversaw the White House Office of American Innovation under President Donald Trump from 2018 until 2020. She also served as the acting director of the United States Domestic Policy Council under President Trump.

Rollins is married and has four children. She is an evangelical Protestant Christian.

I think she'll be lucky to get through 4 years alive after what tRump has done and continues to do to farmers. She's gonna have to stand in front of a camera and defend policies that will cause farmers to file bankruptcy and lose their livelihoods. She's gonna have to tell them to believe tRump, not their own eyes. Good luck! Maybe invest in a suit of body armor.

I know almost nothing about her, but there's no obvious reason why she shouldn't be up for the job. She seems to be a pretty standard pick who isn't going to make waves and will probably be forgotten about within a week unless some major screwup happens.

No, and that used to be the case for all of them other than Defense/War and State, and even those are usually due to occupying the role during a major crisis/war. Until Eric Holder even the AG was typically not a publicly recognized figure either.
