Why is it ok for a woman to physically assault a man but if he tries to defend himself the police always see him as the aggressor?

I met a guy once in this situation. He did nothing wrong. She attacked him because he wanted to lay down and take a nap after work. She wanted him to go out to dinner because she'd didn't want to cook and he didn't either. So she picked up a lamp and broke it on his head. So she calls the police and told them he beat her. So why should he get in trouble when he tried to defend himself.

This is a serious issue that exposes a significant double standard in how society and the legal system handle domestic violence. The assumption that men are always the aggressors and women are always the victims is outdated and harmful.

Statistics show that men can and do experience domestic violence at the hands of women, but they often face skepticism when they report it. According to the CDC’s National Intimate Partner and Sexual Violence Survey, about 1 in 3 men experience physical violence, stalking, or psychological aggression from an intimate partner in their lifetime. Despite this, male victims are far less likely to receive support, and they are often ridiculed or even blamed for the abuse they endure.

The legal system is also biased in these cases. Studies have shown that when police respond to domestic violence calls, they are more likely to arrest the man, even when the woman was the aggressor. Courts tend to be more lenient on female perpetrators, and men who defend themselves often face harsher legal consequences than women who initiate violence.

The core problem is that society still views men as ‘stronger’ and therefore incapable of being victims, while women are perceived as ‘weaker’ and incapable of being aggressors. This mentality leads to an unfair system where male victims are dismissed, and female abusers are excused. If we want true equality, domestic violence should be treated as a crime based on actions, not gender. A victim is a victim, and an abuser is an abuser—regardless of whether they are a man or a woman.

It’s not and women are arrested all the time as well as the justice system gives male perpetrators shit deals as well. It also depends on reasonable force if someone smacks you or throws a drink at you and you respond with stomping someone’s brains out.
