House Republicans’ campaign arm directly attacked Democratic Rep. Adriano Espaillat’s immigration status, drawing condemnation from Democrats.

“Democrats literally chose an illegal immigrant to give their response to President Trump’s address,” the National Republican Congressional Committee wrote on X on Wednesday, adding that “Democrats couldn’t be more disconnected from the American people.”

The direct attack of Espaillat, the first Dominican American member of Congress and a former undocumented immigrant, was met with a swift response from top Democrats who called the post racist.

“These people are disgusting,” House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries said on X.

The House GOP’s campaign arm already deleted a post on X calling Rep. Adriano Espaillat of New York an “illegal immigrant,”

Espaillat's family did overstay their original tourist Visa, which made them (and him) illegal, but they properly applied for, and received, their green cards, making them legal. At least they entered the country legally, unlike those who, today, sneak across the southern border.

So, calling him an illegal immigrant is only partially correct, and the GOP rep was smart to remove his post.

Are Democrats upset because Republicans continue to use the label "illegal alien" or immigrant, or because they brought attention to the fact of the Representative's history.

An illegal alien can be a member of any race, so how does calling someone an illegal alient classify as "racist?"
