My agenda would be somewhat straight forward. As the head of the Executive branch, I'd require that all prisons and jails become self sufficient. The biggest problem we have today is the inability to enforce laws due to overcrowding. The incarceration system should not land on the back of taxpayers. The solution should be forced labor from the inmates.

Once that has been addressed, many other problems start falling into place. I don't agree with an open boarder. It needs to be controlled. At the same time, the U. S. should be a country that embraces leagal immigration. I'd work with the department of immigration and naturalization to streamline the process as much as possible. To those, however, that break our laws by crossing the boarder illegally -- they should be arrested and not sent back to the country of origin -- at least not right away. Place them within a federal prison and force them to work. Look, building a wall is just a bad idea. Make the laws accomplish what a wall cannot.

Health care has always been a concern. I like the President Obama's Affordable Care Act. There needs to be more teeth in it though. Allow there to be health care available to everyone, based upon their living wage. Then enforce it. If one is caught without health care, just as driving without insurance, allow Congress to establish punishment which may include incarceration.

The minimum wage needs to be addressed; and this is a touchy subject. We need to be a structured society that encourages growth. One should not be accepting of trying to make a living on minimum wage. They should be encouraged to better themselves. To me, raising the minimum wage just reduces the value of the dollar. We should lower the minimum wage, not raise it. Then offer student loans to encourage growth. And then don't forgive the dept -- make the student pay the loan back when they get a better job.

We're off to a good discussion. Something to keep on mind, however, is that the President had limited powers. I'd suggest only listing the things the President can actually control.

Or, you could be like Trump and claim you're going to do a lot of things just to have the courts make you look ridiculous.

I do not approve of much of what you want to do for various reasons, most notably that they have not worked in history. Anyways, what would I do?

In my humble estimation the biggest problem is the Democracy. Simply put, people do not understand their options, what the problems in society is and how best to achieve the results that they personally value. As such they do not know who or what to vote for and it becomes impossible for them to make an educated decision. This turns democracy from rule by the people to a glorified popularity contest where the nicest looking and sweetest sounding dictator wins.

While it would pretty much be impossible to accurately communicate with American voters in todays polarized society, you can at least make an impact as a president. In other words, I would spend most of my time working as a communicator with the American people, addressing them directly and trying to explain how systems of governments work and historical examples that they need to know about to avoid the most obvious logical traps such as believing jails should be self sufficient.

I would also push for education to include a number of new subjects, most notably Rhetoric so that people can both learn how to talk to other people in a more constructive manner but also to recognize when someone is lying to them by recognizing the most common ways of manipulating others. The hope is that this will provide them with the defenses they need to see through the lies of most politicians.

Another subject that I feel is missing is history, but more specifically the history of the structure of society. For example, we might be told today about human rights and the morality of abolishing slavery but we do not get told on why that actually makes us more productive and wealthy today without slavery. If people understand WHY society is structured as it is today, even if there are obvious flaws, then they will not as easily want to go back to previous forms that we have already tried and found out works even worse.

There is also the growing issue of the internet. As amazing as this invention is, the government has not been able to keep up with its development. That means the laws and regulations that should exist, not to mention other forms of protection, simply does not exist. Likewise people are not educated on how to deal with this new world which makes them vulnerable to all forms of abuse and manipulation. People need to rethink their relationship with the internet. What they share, what they can trust, how to use the internet as a tool to find information that they are looking for and such things.

Again, while the president is limited in what they can do, I feel that society today is in desperate need of someone that can just communicate these new developments to them in a format that they can easily absorb. Will open communication solve everything? No. But if the next administration can be elected more in-line with what the people actually want, as opposed to political lies and such, then I think that can be built upon to a point where the really big problems can actually be addressed in the future.

I would do an orderly overhaul of all government services thinning the fat and fraud. The border is such a disaster and there are so, so, so many foreigners in our country I'd build a wall, an elaborate system of detection, beef up spending on border agents and I'd be deporting too.

I'd probably just close the border. I would stop all immigration and take some years to sort out the damage that had been done by deporting tons of people.

I'd try and get something passed that sets a solid number of how many people the country would take in per year and I'd have it really low. We don't need a lot of immigration. Just a little bit. If they just want to keep their own culture and start up an outpost of the land they came from, a separate counter culture separate from ours then we don't need them. FYI, an increase of 10% in the minimum wage increases the price of groceries but 0.1% and overall prices by 0.4%, so it doesn't increase prices, but not by much. The minimum wage was designed to provide a minimum standard of living for a person without curtaling employment. Seeing as most states have it at over $10, it's probably not ideal to do away with it, since the one group who is paid less than the federal minimum wage is the restaurant staff. They're expected to reach it by tips, but don't always do so. Getting rid of it will lead certain sectors to pay their workers far less. With no marketable skills outside of their sector it will ve impossible for them to survive unless we feed all people in this country regardless of finances.
In the case of insurance, I guess you plan to just give insurance to those who have no $, because they can't afford most of what they buy because you think $3 for a day's work is okay?
You really need to think worst case scenario with your plans. That's how you choose what to do. What is the worst that can happen with this?

If a society doesn't want so much incarceration to pay for, then it ought to do some combination of these two things:

2. Alter society so the motivation for criminal behavior is reduced.

If I were President, a job I would never want by the way, I would listen to the people who elected me, and do the things that the majority of Americans want done. That would probably include reducing waste in government, securing the borders, improving defense, and helping the economy.

I agree with some of your items, but health care for all (with punishment) is not good, nor is increasing the minimum wage, which was never meant to provide a living wage, it's there to prevent unfair treatment of employees.
