A Turkish Grad in Massachusetts student detained by people claiming to be cops in plain clothes for criticizing Israel. What do you think of this?

At around 5:15 pm on Tuesday, a man in a black hoodie stopped Tufts University graduate student Rumeysa Ozturk on the street in Somerville, Massachusetts. She tried to walk by, but he grabbed her. She screamed, and it seemed like help was arriving.

But the masked newcomers were actually there to help her assailant. They took off Ozturk’s backpack and seized her cellphone. The hooded man put her in handcuffs. “We’re the police,” they told her.

“You don’t look like it,” an apparent bystander replied. “Why are you hiding your faces?”

Ozturk, a Turkish national on a student visa, is currently being held in an Immigration and Customs Enforcement processing center in Louisiana — despite a court order that she must remain in Massachusetts. The State Department has canceled Ozturk’s visa; ICE is preparing her deportation.

The Trump administration claims she has engaged in “pro-Hamas” activity, but they have provided no evidence of material support for Palestinian militants (or any other terrorist group). Not really surprised to be honest. Only a few days ago the Whitehouse told a British reporter to "get back to your own country" after the asked a question. There's even moves to have people who criticise Trump locked up with trump derangement syndrome. I predict the next stage will be the deportation of any legal migrant who commits any crime no matter how small.

WHAT? Is that how they treat one of the most educated and brilliant students now? Imagine getting into your dream college which is literally a little ivy and has acceptance rate of 10 percent and you got in because you worked your ass off and then realising that wearing a hijab can be a reason to be bullied by people who were meant to protect you? This is really ridiculous, forget educated mass, even illiterate people shouldn't be treated like this.

It's disgusting that they're conflating criticism (shared by a large proportion of Israelis) of Israel's current government with anti-Semitism. It's disgusting that they're taking people with a legal right to be in the country and putting them in concentration camps with no due process. It's disgusting that they finally see a reason to wear masks, and it's so their neighbours won't know what they are doing.

Yeah I didn’t see that. I’m just done with attacks or bullying/ sheep dogging behavior on females from certain male demographics. So to see that picture of that innocent lady and the guy in the hoodie- just triggered me. I didn’t see any news about the gay guy but he possibly had higher probability of defending himself and evacuating such a misfortunate and UNNECESSARY situation. I just don’t know how many guys were involved and if he was gay ofc slight percentage he’s not confrontational or highly assertive. (My guess). So he probably got sheep dogged as well 🤦‍♀️

This is also why America has become crazy with gun ownership and the need for it etc.
