Trending & News I think it really depends on the situation. While parents should ideally be responsible for providing for their children, there are situations where the government stepping in can be important—like when families are facing financial hardship or when children's basic needs aren't being met. I believe it's a balance between personal responsibility and societal support..
I agree. Let the poor White Trash children of ignorant meth addicts and opioid addicts living in trailers fend for themselves. Whatever happens, happens. So they don't eat so well. They'll just have to work a little harder in school to pull themselves up by their bootstraps. Maybe mommy and daddy can turn them out for grocery cash. Maybe not. What do I care.
Why punish the kids? Makes no sense. Fact is they're here no matter how stupid the parents are. As a society we should acknowledge THAT then address the causes of why they aren't being fed. It's in EVERYONES Intetest to feed those kids for both moral altruism AND societal self interest.

definitely agree... it's parents' responsibility to be sure they can afford children, both financially and mentally
Disagree, strongly disagree, children are needed to keep the country strong so they should feed them, educate them, heal them, etc... everything for free since the country need them.
The government is meant to work for the people, therefore yes it is. Though in reality they do not when they have the option not to do so.
Agree, If you have kids you have to take care of them. Why are you the one that gets laid and the taxpayer is the one that gets screwed?
As if it were that simple!
@DrPepper12 it is exactly that simple. Why do we reward people to have kids that they cannot support. Every time a junkie gets arrested she always has 3 or 4 kids and no job. It is reverse Darwinism

The
Kids?
@DrPepper12 life is not always fair.
Exactly why society needs to step in!! Ounce of prevention? Child is the father?
"Educate the child and it will not be necessary to punish the men"
Pythagoras
@DrPepper12 Society should have stepped in before the kid was born.
BUT didn't cuz of "taxation is theft" morons that don't see the long term benefit of a compassionate, human centered society
Agreed. Welfare should be left to the individuals in society not mandated by government policy. Removing safety nets is the only way to ensure personal responsibility.
WWJD?
@DrPepper12
He'd show people the way and let them decide for themselves
No...
I mean…I would like the govt to feed starving kids. It’s not the kids fault.
Ad absurdum: It’s not the govt’s job to find parents for orphans. No on that too
I feel like the system is being abused I think there should be help out there but shouldn't just be handed out like it has been
It is the governments job to make sure that every person living in the US is sheltered, clothed, fed, and educated.
Agree, if you can't feed 'em don't breed 'em
