Is it true that homosexuals don't shorten their names?

My dad said he's noticed a common theme that homosexual men don't shorten their names, but use their full names like Robert, William, David, Steven, Anthony, Richard, Douglass, etc...

There seems to be some truth to this, although there are exceptions, but why do you think this is?

I noticed that too. I played a lot of sports and there were far more guys named Mike than Michael but when I started working with interior designers who were gay it was reversed.

You see? EXACTLY! That's what I'm talking about. It's like if they shorten their name, it sounds more manly.

It's like that in the corporate world too. Kenny the intern will become Kenneth the CEO. I had a good friend in high school that went from Tom until he was made partner in a law firm and now he's Thomas.

I'd have thought most people's name version is set in early childhood long before they turn gay. I mean no one says "mmm better call him Dick instead of Richard or people will think he's gay " do they

This is a first one heard of it, I think maybe back in the day. I know a bunch named Rob, Len, dan, corky. Liz, shelly, Nicky, etc. Today, though, almost everyone has a nick name, whatever your pref.

A lot of them are celebrities that are well known to be homosexuals. Others admitted it on reality/game shows. But also, most homosexuals are so obvious.

But there are exceptions, like Dave Ruben is gay but goes by Dave, but he's the kind of gay that if he didn't say it, you wouldn't even know he's gay
