Does Trump want to rape Greenland for it's minerals and not do anything for its Citizens?

By the looks of this map, (hopefully, it is big enough to read here) Greenland is teeming with minerals. So it has a lot of monetary value. The problem being, it takes lots of money to mine and remove it. It will give Greenlanders jobs, but it will be US taxpayers whose money pays for it. So if the taxpayers pay for it - in a sense we are investors - does that mean we get a cut of the action, like in lower taxes from all the profits? Or will that money just go into the pockets of the rich and powerful? I mean seriously, what do the taxpayers get from all the expenditures for all this stuff Trump wants to do besides higher taxes?

Greenland, Denmark, has already allowed an American military base on it. And expressed willingness to increase thar cooperation.

If it was ever about security the problem would be gone, or rather it would never have existed.

However the tariff policies means that China in particular could restrict US mineral access. Basically crippling much of the tech industry.

The solution to this potential backlash from the Trump Tariffs is to seize Greenland for its minerals.

This isn't really a secret. Just like it is no secret the Russia-Ukraine war was instigated and controlled by USA.

Following that logic America should seize any country that's allowed it to have a base. These bases are for the protection of America not the host country, they're allowed to maintain good relations.

@NoDecision Even NY Times reported it as late as... yesterday? The day before? About it. Big cover story with American Generals and more acknowledging their parts. I can dig it up if you are very interested but can't give you thr article itself as it is paywalled. It is a piece by Adam Entous, titled The Partnership The Secret History of the War of Ukraine. It is essentially a propaganda piece advocating how USA did great in planning it but Ukraine has been unwilling to send their teenagers to battle which is why it worked out poorly. It is is very much an open secret.

Well now you have! As for it being a good or bad secret, to anyone with even a passing interest in geopolitics it has been well known since at least 2018 or so - yes before the war began. Wars take time to plan and justification is not quick.

But skipping that war. Trump wants Greendland for its rich mineral assets - yes. Not for defense. He also seems very set on wanting to have an expansionist legacy which makes Greenland and Canada ideal targets geographically.

That said, I'd question whom is strong and smart enough to defend and care for the people. Can't trust anyone, including USA unfortunately as we renig on agreements too often. Sadly, this is one benefit to what China does... consistent power.

Of course. If Americans believe Trump is justified in invading Greenland then they must also believe its OK for Russia to March into Poland, for China to invade Taiwan, etc. Trump invading Greenland is no different than US troops invading Denmark, the fact Americans don't have a problem with this is scary. Legally because America agreed in a previous treaty that the UK would be allowed first offer if Greenland was to be sold they'd also be declaring war on the UK.

Here is what I know of Greenland, the Oil there is estimated $1.7 trillion by the US Govt (last time I checked, feel free to do your own research). Greenland has sunk so much money into trying to suck up the vast Oil from along their coasts with no luck.

Greenland now strives for green energy future and fighting the climate crisis, so it is unlikely they would ever try to get the Oil in current year 2025. It also makes no sense to sell Greenland to Trump for under $1 trillion since that is the explicit reason for purchase and it would be unlikely of Trump to even accept such a high priced deal.
I just don’t see Greenland selling and President Trump purchasing, this is ridiculous.

Because, isn't that what EU and all previous USA governments have done to the rest of the world for decades? - Rape them for their resources (Africa for oil, minerals, cocoa, diamonds, Afghanistan for opium, just a couple of examples).

Why would Trump care more about the average Greenlander than the average American?

It would be a war for natural resources and Trump's legacy plain and simple and mostly benefit a select elite not having to pay current taxes or adhere to current environmental regulations.
