If no meaning, it’s purely observation. Maybe even not intentional. They could’ve been speaking (two people at a table), and after the one finishes their statement they continue eating and sip something (pausing a bit and observing those around them, including whoever re-entered the room- the person walking*).

Sometimes people match in time with other things and sometimes we are just naturally observant. To assume people were hiding something or judging a person who re-entered a room would mean they had some interest or connection into that person’s life or resentment. And that’s just too far and rare. People are not that into others’ lives and it certainly isn’t 24 hours in a day. It’s rare for people to be that collectively shallow and a unified silence and ignoring of one person would be pointless. It does nothing.

Anyone who experienced such a situation shouldn’t worry at all about such a case and should only look into it if other things seemed to grab their attention (hard to ignore). This small indirect and nonverbal act is not something alone anyone could make a firm judgement on.
