Under Trump's new immigration policies, can you get deported simply for having commited crimes/felonies in the past, if you're only on a green card?

My dad has been in the U. S. for over 3 decades, but apparently never got citizenship.

We were gonna do a road trip to San Diego, but we would have to go through border checkpoints, and my dad thinks if he does, he'll get deported. He's not wanted or on probation now, but was in the past for felony. He did his time, but the felony wasn't expunged from his record, and judge tried to deport him last time and said she doesn't know how he didn't get deported for his first crime.

We'd gone through checkpoints with him before and even flown and crossed borders, but that was before Trump started cracking down.

Anyways. He says Trump is deporting green card people who have committed crimes in the past, and he says if he goes through a border check point, they'll see his record and deport him, even though he's European.

He won't even fly domestically for the same reason.

It sure seems that "Due Process" has been thrown out the window in the USA. So any non citizen is definitely at risk.

If green card people are wanted for the felonies or currently serving time for them they will be deported. Past felonies that are resolved will not be deported.

My advice is to stay the hell away from any checkpoints. And I wouldn't even risk air travel. Yes, under the law your dad could be deported tomorrow. But since he's flown under the radar this long, it probably is not going to happen.

Go online and fill out the N-400 paperwork for citizenship. And cost about $380. Then download or view the study material for the citizenship test. The test is very easy. How many stripes are on a flag? How many stars are on a flag?

Once he's a citizen he can't be deported for any reason. Don't listen to the fairmongering Democrats on this thread that say anyone can be deported.
