Americans, how do you believe the state should resolve the problem of the growing budget deficit?

Easy. Stop spending so much money. Just like personal budgets. Governments at all levels seem to be completely incapable of not spending money. They seem to be completely incapable of doing anything efficiently. They have no incentive to do either thing because they have no competition.

I have an idea. We could elect two separate governments. Whichever one does the same service with the least money gets to stay in. The other one to jail. Watch how quickly the budget gets cut.

Literally everywhere. There is not a government program that is not wasteful and can not be cut.

Even if you ignore whether government programs should or shouldn't exist, you could make a 20% across the board cut without any loss of services and programs.

Some programs should be drastically cut, or eliminated completely, Start with all the give-away programs. Then move on to all the redundancy.

I favor serious restrictions on "entitlement" programs. I don't think it is the responsibility of government to take care of individual citizens.

What exact programs you have in mind?

Giving Social Security disability payments to people who never paid into Social Security is an example of an entitlement program that I would axe.

Just like the rest of us have to deal with finances. You have to stay within a budget. If you have debts you have to pay them off. If you are spending too much you have to cut back.
Trump is doing the right thing. He is trying to eliminate waste and get rid of government agencies that were not producing anything of value or some that were working against the interests of American citizens. At the same time he is imposing import tariffs on many goods that come into the country. This will bring in hundreds of billions of dollars to the treasury. He had many companies invest billions of dollars in developing new facilities in the US. These will create tens of thousands of good paying jobs which will raise billions in new tax revenue and he is having mass deportations of illegal aliens which when completed will save the government a half a trillion dollars a year.

The problem is Trump is cutting waste spendings, but also pushing for tax cuts. So it will not reduce the deficit.

By reducing spending and the cost of government. By re-industrialization. By domestic only sale of vacant federal property. And by a permanent DOGE. There are others.

No, but it is contributing. President Trump will soon make major announcements about personnel and property. We are already learning that tariffs are working.
