A Time for Banning of weapons?

How would you feel about the banning of various weapons like assault weapons, concealed carry and such. This especially question for those that want to ban assault weapons.

I've noticed recently the marketing communications in youtube have disappeared... they were pushing "assault weapons ban"... those messages have stopped.

Would you trust someone like Trump to ban your access to assault weapons?

Point being, you have what looks like a Nazi Tirant, could he want to take over like the Communist Cultural Revolution in China... wiping out all your freedoms?

Americans but these weapons in the hope of being a hero when the bad guys come, its a Hollywood created fantasy. But if you look at the stats the majority of gun deaths are suicides and murder of friends and family, very few bad people are actually killed by the wannabe hero's and when they are it's usually for minor crimes. You're far more likely to kill yourself or your wife than an axe murderer.

Americans saying without guns they'll lose their freedom. What freedom exactly? The freedom to scream n** at a black guy and openly carry a gun in public to prove you're a big man?

Truth is the only reason you're allowed guns I'd the government doesn't care if some cousin humping redneck kills his own kind, same reason they don't clean up the ghettos.

Tell that to my relative whom had 10 people invade his property to steal with kids in the house. what gonna do when police say "we might be there in 50 minutes"? Didn't have weapon then... does now. but can't use it less they come in the house.

There's always the issue of "cultural revolution".

I was trying to figure out if people whom don't want the weapons changed their mind when they see a tyrant.

This is what I don't understand about America. Why does that kind of thing happen there but not here in the UK or Europe? Yes there's the odd burglar who sneaks in but we don't get 10 armed robbers coming in. Could it be that we don't have guns everywhere?

I don't buy that statement from what I've heard. French friends had people come in and wipe out their house... load up the truck. Thus in france, you see fences around properties everywhere. That is one solution... turn every house into a prison. Not allowed to shoot anyone in france!

too much ape crime in UK and Germany right? Beyond that... your social payments via gas tax I think helps avoid some of the problem. Maybe that's a legit solution.

We have a special class of people here that are protected, that's the main issue with that crime. Even when they are caught with the items, they are not arrested or punished. car jackings too many and when kids they get turned loose to repeat, theft of personal items in areas near big cities w certain segment mentality:

Not saying guns will fix it... discipline, punishment might. Tough to manage. Maybe social payments is cheaper?

The reason we are allowed guns is because it's a constitutional right. The whole premise of the US is power to the people, not power to the government.

Does freedom come at a cost? Absolutely, there are suicides and gang killing, and as horrible as this is, the gun deaths in the US is dwarfed by medical malpractice deaths and heart disease.

@David318578 yes sadly, we are free and caveat emptor... let the buyer beware... we make a lot of bad choices because we are marketed junk. the solution is parents, but after enough decades, even the parents values can be lost.

But, if the enemy were to use EMF to knock those out, they better be ready for rough terrain and armed militia after the military is done beating them down, that is. Life, liberty, and property are natural rights that no one can take away, especially not some foreigner.

Never ban them, When someone is convicted of doing harm or intending to do harm with a firearm it should be life forever in prison, and not a slap on the hand as it is today. Also police should kill more armed and dangerous criminals when pursuing them. Absolute death penalty for murdering another person.

There is zero possibility of Trump even attempting to do anything about guns. The only reason noone's talking about it much these days, is because he's causing too many other problems with more immediate consequences - crashing the economy, destroying democracy, trying to get rid of medicaid/medicare, banning abortion, etc.

And yes, guns should be banned, except for a few specific types, for a few specific reasons - but it's futile trying to argue that on here.

Don't ban them!! That's STUPID!! Register, tax, regulate, mandate insurance and end the indemnity free ride and make manufacturers & owners liable for any harm caused.

Price in the negative externalities will solve the problem

I agree with some of that. I wouldn't make manufacturer liable for someones use unless it was a gun that is flawed. I wouldn't punish a car company because someone speeds or car jacks someone.
otherwise yes, needs well regulated and trained and responsible.

And yes dangerous ideas like the philosophy of Marx that ended with over 150mil deaths should be protected as well. In reference to Hitler, you drew a very inaccurate analogy and coincidentally picked a society that didn’t and still doesn’t have US-style free speech. Without free speech, both sides won’t get to put out their side of the story. Hitler played on old prejudices and even then didn’t have majority support. He was willing to use violence, something half of Democrats today say would be justified. Now that’s sobering.

@SmokinAces2000 yes with a few acceptions like protections for minors and the call for violence free speech needs to be protected. Hitler also installed massive gun control and disarmed most of his population including all the Jews. So keep that in mind when also screaming for more gun control.

@Avicenna what was inaccurate about what I said? Hitler was quite literally able to spread misinformation and propaganda which played a factor in the deaths of millions. In the US people are allowed to spread false misinformation about groups of people or just things in general.

@SmokinAces2000: You seem to be saying that Germany had US-style free speech and that Hitler abused it to push his agenda. Germany has never had US-style free speech and had Hitler not played on old prejudices, especially with the stab-in-the-back theory as well as using a lot of violence, he would not have achieved power.

In a nutshell, free speech didn’t enable Hitler and censorship wouldn’t have prevented his rise to power.

by the way, under US speech laws, it’s up to you to decide what you’re going to believe by seeking out multiple perspectives. There is actually no such thing as”misinformation” under US speech laws, but there are some people that would love to claim they should decide what is and censor it.

@David318578 no one in the US gets arrested for free speech, well at least they didn’t used to. If someone is spreading false ideologies and harmful messaging then they shouldn’t have a platform. And there is a difference between disarming people and putting regulations on dangerous weapons. No one should be able to just walk into a gun store and buy a semi automatic gun without a permit and then be able to just walk around with it.

@SmokinAces2000 what you are describing with gun control restrictions and not being able to open/ concealed carry has already been done in a lot of cities, and the funny thing is the higher the gun restrictions the higher the violence is. Criminals LOVE gun restrictions because only their victims will follow them.

The fact of the matter is gun control doesn't do anything, drugs are also illegal, hasn't worked for keeping drugs out of the hands of criminals..
