I am an atheist but I am amazed by religious works, and I recognize the immense role and often the honorable role that religion has played in the history of my country.
I have rather monarchist tendencies, but I don't reject the French revolution or the republic. In particular the 5th republic, which suits me. Charles Péguy said that the republic was his kingdom of France. That suits me perfectly. I don't like idiotic criticism of monarchy or republic.
Try to comprehend what any religion would be like without any vocabulary, and no idolatry such as making pictures mental or physical to represent god the creator or logos. There is no superficial crap to wage wars about. Only being a good person to make the world a better place. ﾠ
Times change. Like individual humans go through stages such as childhood and puberty, so humanity as a whole evolves and grows, at some point benefits from monarchy and at another point not.

You’re more pragmatic than most people which is why you will sound weird to them
The reality is: democracy is not perfect
And monarchy has many benefits and many disadvantages
There is no right answer about which regime is best for running any part of the world
And religion is a far too effective tool of control to be denied As a non believer myself I recognize the power that lies in joining a community bound by etherial beliefs
The one constant I found holds true in both empires and republics is wealth.
Rich people will always be set to win no matter how the regime works And poor people will always get screwed over
And then you have 2 kinds of middle class people: Those who fight tooth and nail to get rich and gain the benefits And those who fight a futile battle to take down the establishment thinking their life will be better if everyone was somehow equal (spoiler: they always fail)
So while I’m not a materialistic person, I dress down, and value good health over flashy wealth I also know that my wealth is the only true measure of my power on this earth
So how did the universe come into existence? All of the unfathomable amounts of matter, iron, hydrogen, oxygen, carbon, immense stars, the sun the earth come from? It evolved? Evolved from what? It has to exist before it can evolve. How is everything here? How does life exist? How did living things just pop up out of know where and become "alive"?
Everything is here and exists. It just popped up from absolutely nothing?
So "In the beginning God created..." is made up but you believe everything just popped up out of no where? That makes more sense to you. HOW DID ALL MATTER GET HERE?
Can I actually ask a question? Why don't you believe in a higher power? Don't get me wrong I don't hate atheists, but it never made sense to me to believe there isn't a higher power in fact the more I've seen of the world the surer of it I become. What makes you not believe in god or gods? Why do you find them so farfetched?
There are many paths to reach atheism or agnosticism, that can be a family tradition, that can be through existential disappointment, through exposure to hard science, to soft science, to anything of this combined. Both anthropologically and psychologically, belief in a higher power looks like instinctive and automatic, to see an order in chaos, and as such this belief can easily look suspicious...
@Maybe_Maybe_not I personally have been convinced by life of the exact opposite. There have been multiple times where I saw things that made me believe God existed but here's a few.
1. Patterns are everywhere in our universe to the point it's uncanny. They're everywhere in the universe. On earth in space in our bodies there are patterns everywhere like the unive4rse was shaped and molded as if clay or marble.
2. Statistically speaking humans just should not exists period. The odds mathematically of humans occurring naturally as a lifeform just springing out of the muck are astronomical. SO many X factors had to line up perfectly repeatedly for us to even exist as a lifeform I find God easier to believe than random chance.
To be clear though I believe in evolution I just think that god or the gods are the ones who caused it. Remember how I said there are patterns everywhere? I think the gods interact with the mortal world by plucking the strings of the universe's patterns so to speak. When humanity was made by the divine, they simply steered the patterns in the right direction for us to evolve like diverting a river to irrigate a grain field.
3. As you said yourself the belief in God seems to be instinctual but if you believe in evolution all instincts have a root cause, don't they? They are linked to an important behavior of their species that's necessary for them to function. Why would we have developed an instinct around divinity if there wasn't a reason for it?
@Maybe_Maybe_not 4. We actually have a part of our brain that lights up when engaged in religious practices as in there's a section of our own brains that specifically responds to worship.
5. Out of body experiences in my opinion is evidence of the soul. It's impossible for someone dying to look at their own body from ten feet away as they watch themself die in any way I can explain scientifically. They are so consistent and have so many of the same themes it's striking to me.
6. Monkeys actually seem to be creating some kind of pseudo cairn religion. There are troops that have begun designating specific trees as special. They do things like throw rocks only at that tree or they climb them and put rocks in the holes or branches for no reason and just leave them there for no reason. It's debatable what this behavior is but from what we can tell it's new behavior and it does seem similar to early Cairn practices done by neolithic tribes in prehistory.
@Maybe_Maybe_not 7. The big bang shouldn't be possible at least as we understand it now. The big bang that created the universe was caused by matter colliding with more matter at extreme speed but if the big bang hadn't happened yet there shouldn't be anything just a void right? Matter can't be created or destroyed so where did the matter that caused the big bang come from?
At the end of the day even if you could explain that, then how do you explain what you just explained? How can something just happen out of pure nothingness to create something? No matter how far you trace it back everything that has happened in our universe is the product of some kind of cause and effect so what was the very first because that got every other ball rolling to create the universe?
Think about it, this had to start somewhere with something so powerful that it knew how to cause a chain of events that would create all of existence. I don't know what that is, but I suppose you could call it God.
Now yes, I'm aware that all of this is just my interpretation and none of this is solid proof but whenever an Atheist tells me there's no proof god exists I see it as ignorant and whiny because there's no proof he doesn't either which means it's a nothing argument because their evidence they don't is as nonexistent as yours that they do. These are just my thoughts personally.
There is no solid proof to find in either case, absence or existence, since God is not an observable phenomenon. And no one even needs to observe it to believe or disbelieve, since believers have faith, non-believers have faith but in something else lol, could be life, themselves, the future, money, sex, ethics, love, their country, anything. Which leads me to point 3.
3. I talked about a sort of instinct to believe, not to say it's function is to believe in a higher power, to me this is a trait allowing imagination, as in looking beyond objective reality. Imagination to create ideas and then materialize them. This imagination can lead to create a story, a shovel, a plane, or... a God.
@Maybe_Maybe_not But then the question becomes why did god or gods occur independently so many times across the planet? Religion is inherently human, and it's been with us since the neolithic age. You're also free to believe me or not I know what I saw, and I know it also sounds farfetched but I've been in the presence of spirits twice and I'm 100% sure I witnessed a gate to Tir Na Nog in my youth. I'm a very scientifically minded person but multiple times in my life I've seen things I just can't explaine to myself that seem magical. I even have profetic dreams and on a one occasion I stopped my friend hitting a rabbit with his car because I had the Dejavu whiplash I get every time one of my dreams is about to come true.
It's also prevented a TPK when playing games with my friends. I can't explain it or control it but multiple times I've dreamed something that came true as much as three years later and I don't mean metaphorical visions I mean crystal clear visions like a high-resolution photograph. I'm talking they were so vivid I finished one of my friends sentences for him one time because of it. They just come and go though sometimes, and they were a lot more common when I was younger. I still get them occasionally
I can't explain it for the life of me I just can't this stuff is supposed to be fictional but for me it's real. I wish I could control it that would be fucking awesome but they're completely random.

That question is already covered by this urge to imagine, with it we all can create the concept of God. In fact, that tells me why there are different religions spawning through History, worshiping different Gods. Because, while imagination would be a core trait of mankind, the results it gives are fluctuating. Some imagined gods as totemic animal, as titans, as pure energy, as a great maker. All results possible
The first part.. Not really.. A lot of Atheist highly appreciate "religious" works, and love the stuff despite not really believing it.. Or at least a noticeable amount.. It is sort of unique, but I've seen Atheist who like learning about religion at least..
The second one is a bit weird from my understanding of Republics and Monarchies..

Nah, seems pretty normal honestly, a lot of atheists and agnostics like religious history, as for the second part, it's still not weird, since you see that both sides can work and both sides have it's down sides. I think that's a pretty logical thing to think.
You don't have to believe in a divine being to be fascinated by works that are inspired by divinity. It's not a weird nor an uncommon sentiment to hold.

Studying religion without practicing it is fascinating. Thus far, I have studied Norse mythology, Greek mythology, Roman mythology, Christian mythology, and Islam mythology.
