1 ythe fed was sending them $2 billion... that sounds crazy. I've seen yale campus and the $ they put into those buildings, whom do they think they are... aristocracy? Is it worth it? Maybe they just don't like paying that much to bring people in that attack their value system? If they don't like it, 'work a deal' and stop fighting. everything... is about making a deal these days. Might be quicker if we did this all "Monty Hall style".
Free speech is a sensitive thing and there's always a dividing line on what is accepted, what is too extreme a reaction.
Go to harvard and yell some awful words about black people and see how that goes. But when it's about Jewish people, it just sounds like free speech and in fact, they will import those voices... cause it's all viewpoints. Yell it about middle aged white men and will get applause from the women.
free speech... is what it is...
None of it helps the people in Gaza much... Meanwhile, Harvard... you know how much $ those people make and how much they spend... um it's way north of $2 billion. Why don't they do some Christian missionary work and help the people of Gaza?

10 Reply12.1K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. LOL, Trumps whole election was a mistake. He just wanted the free Coke at the Whitehouse, and somehow finds himself getting elected, twice!
10 Reply26.4K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. I bet this was from an unnamed source. This was no misstake. This has been Trump's policy all along. If you are here on a student visa and become involved with a terrorist organization you will be deported. Full Stop.
I wonder how many illegal aliens we can deport with 2.2 bilion dollars

Sean Keveney was the Trump official. It's not unnamed. He said it was a mistake.
The April 11 letter from the White House’s task force on antisemitism, this official told Harvard, should not have been sent and was “unauthorized,” two people familiar with the matter said.
The letter was sent by the acting general counsel of the Department of Health and Human Services, Sean Keveney, according to three other people, who were briefed on the matter. Mr. Keveney is a member of the antisemitism task force. - 1 y

He had a judicial stay barring deportation. It's all illegal.
And no, "anti American" isn't a crime - 1 y
@DrPepper12 The stay came out after the plane left American airspace, Boesberg had no jurisdiction just as he has no jurisdiction in El Salvador.
Garcia is not coming back. - 1 y
It's was from 2019... 😱

There have been instances where U. S. citizens were mistakenly deported during the Trump administration, and recent policy proposals have raised concerns about the potential for such actions to increase.
Documented Cases of Mistaken Deportation
One notable case involves Kilmar Ábrego García, a Maryland resident who was deported to El Salvador in March 2025 despite a court order blocking his removal due to credible fears of persecution. The Trump administration admitted the deportation was a mistake but has been criticized for defying a U. S. Supreme Court directive to facilitate his return. Ábrego García is currently held in a Salvadoran prison, and legal proceedings are ongoing to address the situation.
Additionally, reports indicate that at least seven U. S. citizens have been detained, deported, or otherwise targeted by the Trump administration’s mass deportation campaign.
Policy Proposals Affecting U. S. Citizens
President Trump has publicly stated that his administration is exploring the possibility of deporting U. S. citizens convicted of violent crimes to countries like El Salvador. This proposal has sparked legal debates, as deporting U. S. citizens is generally considered unconstitutional.
Furthermore, the administration has suggested that its immigration crackdown could extend to include U. S. citizens, raising concerns about the potential for expanded enforcement actions that may infringe upon citizens' rights.

xitseven, right, Trump isn't doing anything illegal right now, is what YOU think, but the reason courts are stopping him from causing out his executive orders, is because he is going AGAINST the constitution in many cases. And he is a convicted felon; a mobster; a cheat and a liar--and he's broken the law many times. You like him NOT because he is "carrying out the will of the people"--no, because that is not MY will. Younger just happy hwe is deporting these people who have lived here for years because you don't like how they are different from YOU, because they speak another LANGUAGE other than English, and because you think they are taking away your job, which they are NOT. Immigrants --legal and illegal--came here to get a better life--just bas your ancestors did. Just like the Pilgrims and early settlers who came and took land away from the Native Americans who lived here and who killed them of their own land; just like the soldiers who took Texas and Louisiana away from the Mexicans. Period.

@DrPepper12 any fake news reads like a tabloid. anyway, i guess you don't want to post a proper link.

You don't know the difference do you? 😂 Maybe you should Google broadsheet vs tabloid. Thank me later!

@DrPepper12 i know the difference. media wasn't as much of a problem as it is now. without journalistic integrity it isn't really news. paying.50 cents for toilet paper is a steal though.

The recent letter of demands sent to Harvard University by the Trump administration was officially acknowledged as a mistake by White House officials. According to a report by The New York Times, members of the administration's antisemitism task force admitted that the detailed list of demands sent on April 11 was unauthorized and should not have been dispatched.
Despite this admission, the letter bore the signatures of senior officials from multiple federal agencies, including the General Services Administration, the Department of Health and Human Services, and the Department of Education. Harvard's administration perceived the letter as an official government directive, prompting them to publicly reject its demands, which included eliminating diversity programs, banning face masks at protests, and cooperating with immigration enforcement.
Following Harvard's refusal, the Trump administration took tangible actions by freezing $2.2 billion in federal funding and threatening to revoke the university's tax-exempt status. These measures indicate that, regardless of the letter's purportedly accidental dispatch, the administration proceeded with punitive steps against Harvard.
While the Trump administration has stated that the letter was sent by mistake, the subsequent official actions taken suggest that the demands outlined in the letter were consistent with the administration's intentions toward Harvard.

While Harvard University possesses a substantial endowment exceeding $50 billion, it still relies significantly on federal funding, particularly for its research endeavors. In the fiscal year 2024, federal funding constituted approximately 68% of Harvard's total sponsored research revenue, amounting to $686 million. This funding supports critical research areas, including studies on obesity, organ transplantation, cancer, and neurodegenerative diseases.

The university's endowment does provide a considerable portion of its budget, with distributions totaling $2.4 billion in fiscal year 2024. However, about 70% of these funds are restricted by donor terms to specific programs or purposes, limiting their flexibility to cover general operational costs or unexpected financial shortfalls.
Harvard Finance
Given these constraints, while Harvard's financial resources are robust, the university cannot entirely forgo federal funding without significant impacts on its research activities and overall operations. - 1 y
These are "pass through" grants mostly. Harvard allocates it to others.
