I understand that not all of them are, but a good number of them are. There’s no place for either of these things in the world in 2025. I get it, the left is far from perfect. I’m not saying that they are by any means. Any time I hear racist and homophobic remarks, 10 times out of 10 it’s coming from a MAGA. There’s nothing that causes me to lose respect for someone faster.

7 moThough this may be your experience, I've run into this with people left, middle and right.
This country was founded on slavery and one-upmanship. There is always someone on the bottom and those above attribute a host of bad features to underdogs.
Whoever is the latest new group on the bottom, or unwanted immigrant is the next to be disparaged.Right now there is a lot of anger at trans people and anyone falling into the LGBTQ camp, though trans people are, at best, 4% of the world population, and the entirety of that alphabet comprises 10 to 20% of the population.
Illegal immigrants are 11 million people in the US. We have 330,000,000 people in this country. But there is vitriol focused on immigrants, about 4% of our country's population, demonizing them, saying they are rapists and criminals. Statistics show undocumented immigrants are even less likely to be involved in criminal activities because of the fear of being caught and deported.
As with any group of people, about 5 to 10% might be involved in criminal and /or illegal activities.
So there might be 550,000 of those 11 million who might be involved in crime. By extrapolation, this means there are around 17 million native--born Americans, of every race, creed and color, doing the same: from white-collar crime and human trafficking, a la Jeffrey Epstein and his ilk, to street-level drug peddlers.
The other long-held misconception is that homosexuals are perverts and want to groom children to become homosexuals. There is absolute psychological proof that no one's sexuality can be changed. People are born straight, gay or somewhere along that spectrum.
There have been religious groups that tried to straighten gay people in camp experiences, only to find that such camps don't ultimately work.People are hard-wired to be attracted to whatever they're attracted to. Sadly, the same is true for ACTUAL perverts, such as pedophiles: another group that is a tiny percentage of the population: best guesses are 1 to 2% of people, because few admit to this predilection.
Yet, similarly, the fears about undocumented immigrants are like fears about pedophiles: They are everywhere! Lurking. About to poison your children. Just like gays, just like illegal immigrants, just like black people. All these OTHERS are out there waiting to pounce and ruin us.
And this is the psychological problem: Fear of OTHERS. Others are ALWAYS a threat to the status quo. And the status quo is usually found in more conservative groups: People who have the most to lose by allowing outsiders to move up the social ladder..Which is what is wrong. Outsiders are the MOST desirous of BECOMING THE STATUS QUO. Most want in, want acceptance. When they achieve this, they are the new moderates and conservatives. Sometimes the new liberals. But they are the new society and add to the fabric of our country.

@Screenwriter. Each illegal alien costs the fed between 35 and 50 thousand dollars a year. In 2023 the cost was 460 billion dollars. The states and cities spent billions more. This is not sustainable. Our emergency rooms are swamped and facilities that were designed to help citizens have been taken over to keep illegals. Meanwhile the elderly and veterans live in poverty. They all need to be deported and the sooner the better. President Eisenhower was able to do this during his administration and nobody tried to block it. People need to wo Der why democrats want to keep these freeloaders in the country and actually will invite the caravans again if they ever get the chance again. They are planning on fast tracking them to citizenship so they can all vote
- 7 mo
@exitseven Most undocumented people are here working. Our emergency rooms are not "swamped" with aliens and my city is not spending billions on illegal people. Perhaps in some parts of the country there is this strain. But what facilities are you talking about that illegal aliens have taken over so citizens can't use them?
Veterans do not live in poverty if they worked 20 years or more in the military. What elderly are you talking about? Some might be living in poverty because they never had good jobs training. This has nothing to do with illegal aliens.
There is no way to live free in this country. Illegal aliens cannot get foodstamps or welfare or regular medical care through, say, Medicaid. And most Illegal aliens come here to work and do work. So your description of them as freeloaders is inaccurate.
And all these aliens perform valuable work for the country: who picks our vegetables, legally with temporary work permits on farms? Who works in construction jobs? Who does the lowest, toughest jobs in our country? Nurse assistants, sitters for ill and disabled people via word of mouth. Housecleaning services, building janitors, auto mechanics, gardeners, landscapers.
I don't think coming here illegally is right. But there should be a process to apply for green cards if a person has been here working and paying taxes, which is a majority of these people. It can't be as easy as those who have been here legally. It takes a decade to do fully legal citizenship.
- 7 mo
But putting people in a pipeline to begin the process and stopping the failed process of getting people through citizenship should be a goal for this country. These people are providing valuable services to making this country run.
Fine them. That could be their "cost" for illegal entry. Check their criminal history. If they have one, deport them. If they have none and have recommendations from a list of employers and citizens then start the process for them AFTER legal entries haeve been processed.
The most salient point is to beef up processing of legal aliens for citizenship and create a process for valid aliens who did not enter legally but have been good " shadow" citizens and assets to our country, as MOST do and are.
There is no reason that someone here costs the federal government $35K per person per year. How? Lost tax dollars? because they don't pay into various federal systems?
You're confusing costs with lost revenue. These are two entirely different things. And you're also not taking into account the money these workers generate and the jobs they fill working here.
Fast tracking people to citizenship is not about getting more Democratic voters. It is about employing some level of fairness to people who have been here working, living and enriching America for decades.
What is fair is fast tracking the people who are already IN the system and adjuticating their cases instead of letting them languish in green card limbo. ICE needs more staff and more judges and courts need to be applied to this issue. If it were, more people would choose to come here legally and navigate the system because there would be a fairer and better chance of staying here instead of living underground.
But desperation fosters desperate choices..

@Screenwriter Illegal aliens are living in hotels. There are 2 hotels near my house that has 750 of them. Biden bussed them in in the middle of the night. Then state contracted with the two hotels. They will pay double the rate and will rebuild them when they get trashed. They get 3 "culturslly appropriate" catered meals daily, free consierge dental and healthcare service. Also access to attorneys. The local school system has to deal with over 130 new students that cannot speak a word of English. The state budget is short a billion dollars, coincidently a billion dollars is what the contracts with all these hotels cost.

These freeloaders are getting benefits that the rest of us would never be able to get. FEMA spent millions to shuttle them around the country and the VA was processing them through the system that was meant for veterans.

8 moBecause the exclusion of those groups has been the basis of the conservative movement since the 1970’s, when conservatives started to lose in the fight for segregation/integration in schools. Modern conservatism is based in traditionalism and traditionally only one specific group has been given respect above all others to the point of detriment to any other group, this includes those of alternative sexualities as well as race. They’re just doing what they’re taught at this point.

GREAT ANSWER! 👍🏻😁
10.2K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. Right-wing politics often emphasize preserving tradition, national identity, and cultural values. This can lead to resistance against rapid social changes—like expanding rights for LGBTQ+ people or challenging systemic racism. That resistance, when taken to extremes, can cross into outright bigotry.
Far-right movements often use scapegoating to rally support—blaming economic or cultural decline on immigrants, minorities, or LGBTQ+ people. It's a way to unify a base by pointing to an "enemy" disrupting the status quo.
Psychologically, some conservative ideologies lean on strong "in-group loyalty" (family, religion, nation) and skepticism or fear of "out-groups" (immigrants, minorities, people with different lifestyles). That fear or distrust can manifest as racism or homophobia, especially when amplified by media or political figures.
The loudest or most extreme voices often get the most attention. So racist or homophobic individuals within right-wing spaces are more likely to be highlighted, creating a stronger association—sometimes unfairly—with the broader group.
That said, prejudice exists across the political spectrum in different forms. The key difference is often in how openly it's expressed or tolerated by different communities.

8 moIt’s the conservative mindset. They also like to play victim when they aren’t allowed to spread hateful rhetoric and propaganda. Just look at twitter. I’ve heard conservatives complaining for years about how their views and ideas are censored and the leftists are out to get them. Well since twitter pretty much lets people say and do whatever the hell they want, we see what those “censored” “views” and “ideas” are. I can’t scroll more than 2 minutes without seeing some blatant racist shit from right wing communities.
