Long preamble -- you can skip through to the joke if you wish In the late 1990s, Australia held a referendum about whether to replace the British Monarch as a head of state -- he only has reserve powers, like to dismiss the Parliament if they are unable to hold enough seats to govern effectively, which I believe has only been used once in 125 years --- with an elected president that would become our head of state. Australians voted the referendum down, as we almost always do.

Anways...

In the lead up to the referendum, Margaret Thatcher retired but long-term Prime Minister of Britain, was asked whether Australia should change to an elected President. And her response was:

"Anyone who thinks a politician would make a better head of state than a monarch clearly hasn't met enough politicians"

I don't worship anybody.
I trust politicians less than I trust commissioned salesmen.
They wouldn't have jobs if they told the truth. A politician's path to success is to lie convincingly and manipulate public opinion. Behind the scenes they make deals and scheme in order to get rich.
Some have ideals (and some of those ideals are sick), but few have ethics.

No, I have no expectations that they are somehow heroes. I vote for the politician who will solve some of my problems and will hopefully not create any more.
