Do you believe you are in control of your life?

I am going through hard times and a person told me I should pray. I am not a fan of this. I am in a mess but I feel like I know what decisions I made to lead to this and I have been successful before so I guess I can steer things in this direction?

I’m in control of myself, but I’m not able to control my life completely. I can’t decide if I keep my job or not, or if disaster strikes me or not, or if my partner breaks up with me or not because my ability to control those events is not present at all.

yeah, but you steer life early on. for example somebody valuing being in control would tend to be a business owner rather than an employee

Having such values doesn’t necessarily mean they’d be a good owner, or that their business would succeed

No. I try to let God take the wheel. I say "try" because frequently grab the wheel and force us off the road.
