It’s not really a contradiction—it’s strategy. Tariffs are a tool, not a moral stance. Presidents adjust them based on market conditions and global leverage. If Trump is easing up after CEOs warn about supply issues, it’s a sign he’s responsive to economic pressure without caving ideologically.

Also, we should be asking: why are CEOs still so dependent on foreign supply chains years after COVID exposed those vulnerabilities? Maybe instead of blaming tariffs, we should be pressuring them to invest in American manufacturing.
