If they're going to show the effects of tariffs now, why wouldn't they show the effects of taxes over all these years? Or tariffs that have existed for decades where the other country was the beneficiary rather than America?

The retards still don't understand the tariffs are negotiating tools.

The countries that have been taking advantage of us since before Kennedy will now be accountable for working with us in fair trade deals, which will benefit all Americans. It doesn't have to be 50/50, and the other countries can still come out ahead to a degree, but it's not going to continue to be 90% or more against the interests of the United States as it has been for all these years.

Goods imported and exported will be on an equal basis, making prices drop rapidly. Countries will have a clear choice between meeting our terms with fair reciprocal tariffs, or, moving those portions of their business to the United States, where the taxes they pay will level the playing field, and they'll be creating more and more jobs for Americans. Or a combination of both of these.

This will have the added effect of lowering or even eliminating income tax for the working class, i. e., people who earn from $0 to $200,000, though many on the lower end of that scale don't pay any taxes at all.

The administration has entered into a number of these deals already, and more and more are being implemented each day. The only exception is China, which requires special handling due to its massive impact on world trade.

The president has been giving generous concessions each time a country has manifested its willingness to work with us. It doesn't matter whether this happens in 100 days, 100 weeks or 100 months, as long as the long-term impact becomes more and more positive for Americans.

Or would you just rather to continue making low wages, paying high taxes and living under the Biden inflationary economy, where a rundown 1,500 square foot house worth $150,000 costs $450,000?

I don't care. If they do it just insults the intelligence of their customers.

The same customers that - like you - erroneously believe that the tariffs are being paid by foreign countries, correct?

@DryGermanGuy if they put it right on the receipt they ate basically telling the customer that they are screwing them by trying to pass the tariff on to the customer. Nobody will buy what they are selling

Do you actually think that in a competitive capitalist society many companies have the financial wiggle room to just absorb tariffs that arrived at their doorstep by the finger-snap of an erratic dear leader? Because I don't. I would say such receipts would be their version of a Public service announcement, i. e. look what your government is doing here.

@DryGermanGuy Cimoanies are doing it. Ford and Chrysler are offering discounts to offset any tariffs and Hyundai advertises no change in MSRP. Other companies advertise Amaerican made and no tariffs. This will increase their sales.

American made is rarley 100% American. They need to source materials somewhere and I guarantee that not all of that can be sourced from within the USA. So even American made products will suffer an increase in price as well.

Yes, but it is only temporary until domestic parts can be sourced. Believe it or not at some time mist products were 100% American made. Where I live there weremany shoe factories and shoes were made in America. They lasted so long they could be resoled.. Now people buy a cheap pair of shoes from China and their own it away in a year and but a new cheap piece of junk.

@DryGermanGuy This is true. This is why tariffs do what they are supposed to. Why have over a hundred companies imposed tariffs against the US for decades? Why do tariffs work for all these countries but will not work for the US?

  • Businesses providing detailed information about the impact of tariffs on receipts could benefit consumers by promoting transparency and awareness. This approach helps customers understand how tariffs affect pricing and encourages informed purchasing decisions. It can foster trust between businesses and consumers, leading to greater customer satisfaction and loyalty. 📊

Sales tax reflects the demands of taxes placed on imports. If that goes up, it stands to reason sales tax would as well

Sales tax is local and state imposed tax. Hence some states have no sales tax others have no sales tax of food.
