What was it like growing up in the US back during the hippie movement? Did life suck even worse back then (for non-leftist and conservative people)?

Things obviously do suck nowadays with all the leftist racial and gender ideology going around.

I don’t think its just conservatives either that feel tired of the leftism.

But were things even worse back then?

I mean I don't know a whole lot about it but things didn’t seem particularly great back then either.

A bunch of hippies doing drugs and acting like degenerates?

I fckin feel sorry for everybody back then that had to deal with it.

It almost has me thinking,

Was life even worse back then for conservatives and ordinary people?

How bad was it, and were the hippies generally avoidable?

Conservative people were too busy working to understand that the foundation that they were standing on was washing away under their feet. I sat in more than one students for a democratic society meeting. "We" plotted how we would wrestle the country away from "the establishment".

If you look at the passage of American history since the 1960s, you will see that" We" were overwhelmingly successful And that Bill and Hillary Clinton were the end point of our goals. We accomplished everything we set out to do. Everything.

But then I defected to the Republican conservatives and did not get to enjoy our success. We baby boomers did this to ourselves. And now we are getting what we deserved.

I was the opposite of a hippie. I did not have long hair and did not use drugs. I was in R. O., T. C. Still I was able to maintain my identity and still manage to have friends and have some fun.
I actually had some friends that were real freaks. I think that being true to one's self was maybe respected to some extent.

yes, they were I was pretty much an anomaly. They all thought that they were rebels but they dressed alike and repeated the same BS about vietnam , nixon blah blah blah. I was the true individual.

Pretty good I imagine. Boomers didn't know how good they had it. Imagine being able to pay for college each year just by flipping burgers in the summer months. Imagine being able to get a good paying job with a high school diploma. Imagine being able to buy a home before you are 25 and have two cars in the drive all from a single earner and wives could choose to be stay at home mothers rather than forced into work so that they can pay the mortgage, student loans, car payments, healthcare and so on.

What happened in 1972 that put a stop to the American dream and is it too late for Trump to fix?

all our industries were shipped overseas. Most middle class jobs disappeared. America is dependent on foreign countries for everything.
