• you are, in fact, trashy beyond words, such that your trashiness far exceeds his own. (I obviously have no idea if this is true - I don't know anything about you - I'm just offering it as an option.)
• his "compass" on what is trashy and what isn't is so miscalibrated that nothing he says should be considered reliable.

If you were trashy enough to deserve such a man to call YOU trashy, you'd know you were that trashy, because it would be nearly impossible not to know unless you were just incredibly delusional.

So, I'd guess that the latter option is the more likely one.
