What metric do you judge a successful soceity?

1. A successful society will provide the most amount of rights possible without overly jeapordising people and exposing them to harm.

2. The society has the bare minimum involvment in the average person's daily life. Taxes are fair and proportional to means.

3. The society provides the best wellbeing possible to all members to the best of their ability be it caring for the needy or making sure workers have a fair living wage.

4. Has a low crime and violence rate

5. Has steady population growth not to fast not too slow.

6. Has traditions and some tradional values. WHen I say this I don't mean no gay people everyone has to pump out babies I mean marriage needs to have value and meaning behind them as do other cermoneys and cultural things.

7. Religion needs to be a part of societal life but separate from goverment in my perfect world it would be freedom of religion but idealy I'd like to see forms of Nature Worship promoted.

8. The people have to be content or better happy on average.

9. The society should be communal. People should spend time in public places communicating and talking with others not social media platforms.

10. There needs to be heavy focus on ecological protection.

11. The people should have access to as many goods as possible.

Those are the ones that come to mind off of the top of my head I could add more in the comments later if I think of them.

Success in a Capitalist Hellscape? Not having a billionaire buffoon as a leader.

Tariffs on imports , pushing for stocks to go down , consumer confidence low , stomping on Unions , and stopping all immigration also kicking out cancer patients who are children.

We should look at our European Allies and learn from them, not China or Iran or North Korea or Russia. This is a disaster.

I simply wanted a good housing market solution, stable and growing economy, and rewarding our workers instead of running them into the dirt. Now we have this moron back in control.

A successful society is one that takes care of all of its citizens from cradle to grave and aids all levels of society, the incarcerated, mentally ill, drug-addicted, homeless, physically disabled and otherwise, to return to being productive outside of being institutionalized, if possible.

A successful society prioritizes government paid basic health care for all, a living base wage for workers, welfare for those who are financially marginalized, government supported education through high school and highly subsidized college education for those who qualify.

A successful society values a free press, separation of church and state, democracy, free and fair voting system, courts, congress, presidential systems and financial systems. Fair trade both internal and international.

A successful society values all people who are part of it and considers that most citizens are valuable assets.

One view is that a society should be judged by how it cares for its most vulnerable members, and how it treats animals. It is important to note that "society" is quite different from government.

THAT... never existed for huge number of people. THAT... is a romanticized false memory of an idealized society that never existed. Life is not that sanitized and simple for 98% of us.

But as to your question, there is no metric for a successful society. It takes a range of metrics to cover "quality of life". And various groups have come up with a quality of life index based on education, crime, home values, employment rates, incomes, health, lifespan, hours worked, suicides, marriage rates, divorce rates, population growth, pollution, cost of living, etc.

Easy - a successful society is one that prioritizes AT LEAST the following for its citizens and/or workers:

* Affordable food, clothing, and shelter for all
* Clean water
* Universal health care for all and extended care for the elderly
* Free and truthful education
* Individual as well as societal rights and freedoms that are fair, just and equitable for all classes
* A complex but still efficient form of democracy that allows all constituents to considered

I wonder if society ever has been successful. When I studied the past, especially looking into ancient civilizations I realized they where much more advanced with technology and most likely also smarter back then compared to now. But money, greed and power have always been the downfall of those society's. Nothing really changed much except losing advanced technology

Low crime. Clean. Good infrastructure. Intelligent/sophisticated people known for arts and advancements in technology, science, medicine, etc... But also good morals/values and not culturally backwards or corrupt. In Polish we call them "pozonne kraje"

Personally, if I want to judge a society I will judge it by the people's (including the government) readiness to do the right thing at the right time without being forced to do them.
That is when everyone plays their part in the society it will definitely lead to a successful society.
