Has everything just turned to shit, or have I just grown up?

I cannot really determine if I have just grown up to see everything's true colors or if everything just turned to shit (or a combination of both).

I remember the "good ol' days" in my youth when I could trust most adults. Teachers and school staff/administrators actually held a tight ship. I felt most adults back then took responsibility and accountability and made the right decisions.

As it stands today, I feel like I am surrounded by a bunch of careless and clueless idiots. No one wants to take accountability, and I am skeptical to place the safety of my child in anyone's hands. I feel like we have backslided and common sense for a lot of things has went out the window.

Yeah, you pretty much just woke up and outgrew the naive world view of your childhood. The human race hasn't changed much in the last 3,000 years. People are still faking it and ducking accounability to get by. They avoid risks. They haven't gotten any smarter. The internet has been an enabler of people's worst behaviors. But it also makes those things more apparent. We're just seeing more of it 24X7. Information overload.

Everything has turned to shit. All our institutions are run by liberals. Their policies do not serve the public, only themselves. They want us to work for the government. The government is supposed to be working for us.

I have matured since age 20 for sure. It just has been a gradual process. You have to remember, I had developmental disabilities.

I was 20 (college) and she was turning 17 and an upcoming high school senior. We were less than 4 years apart in age. You all seem to make a mountain out of a mole hill. I am 30 now, and I am a different person.
