I think it's a result of the reduction in opportunities for non-college men. Fifty years ago a man could complete high school and get a union job that paid enough for him to buy a house, support a family, take an annual vacation, send his children to college. It's interesting seeing the kind of demographic who think there is a gender war (s) in the comments.
When I think of war, I don't think of socioeconomic stagnation or disparities that are purely societal in nature. I think of unimaginable and surreal suffering and the hands of power hungry money moguls. The real wars are not led by things like gender. They're led by people who want nothing more than absolute control and the cost of equality and fairness for all. Because that would mean they can't have it all.

It is almost insulting to our human history to prefix a nominal attribute like "gender" in front of war. It's like peak self-deprecation. What, are we warring with our own selves but of the opposite sex?

What does a gender war look like? Are we seriously pitting half the population (generally speaking)... with the other half? Wouldn't we as a species or at least one side have gone extinct if this was the case? How come we aren't at each others throats at every waking second of the day? Why are we even talking to each other knowing that someone from the opposite sex has had a hand in their creation?
