I read somewhere that the cost of raising a child is,$20,000per year, $300,000 per child for 18 years. The average price of a house is $500,000, average rent is $2000 per week and $24000per year. The average wage is $60,000 yearly. Childcare can be anywhere between $12000-$24000. Average Healthcare costs $12,000 per year.

These figures just illustrate how difficult it is for average people to have more than one or two children. So low wages and inflated prices.

That's completely false as the poorer countries have ways more children so it have nothing to do with money.

@alice55 social services doesn't appear in poorer countries to take their kids off the parents because the parents had to leave a 12 year old home alone to look after the other kids while they work or because they can't afford to feed them or because they are selling them in the sex trade. People in poorer countries aren't ending up in the street because their rent is a third of their earnings, or can't buy a home because it represents 10 years of their earnings. Then healthcare costs another 3rd of a person's wages. Haven't even mentioned what people pay every year in taxes. Then there's student loans. Car payments. People are too busy working their ass off to be broke.
Between 1945-90 a person could leave high school and get a decent job, or pay their way through college working in the summer or at weekends flipping burgers, a home could be supported on a singled wage, they could own a decent home, have two cars in the drive and were having 3-4 kids. So what has changed?
