@DrPepper12 People in rural areas will have mail delivered in town for easy pickup when they get their other items from Walmart. Snail mail is hardly used anymore. Down the road they will have drones or Musk’s/Tesla’s robocalls deliver it.

Are you aware that Amazon, UPS, and FedEx all have “Last Mile” deals with the USPS to serve rural areas they otherwise wouldn’t serve at all because they can’t make a profit with a ground network in those shithole Red States.

They can drive into town to get their things or a private company will provide the service including the two new technologies that I mentioned. USPS is wasteful and needs to go. I remember them getting caught trashing mail in votes in the woods in the 2016 election and some in dumpsters. The stories are still out there if you want to see.

If less people get sick as a result of being simply more careful, now that they have to pay more out of pocket, that's already a benefit. The locals can choose to fund them as well, hospitals don't have to close.

Nice attempt at dodging reality. If you read the story these rural areas are underserved and poor to begin with. They are in Red States with horrible economies and no budget to help themselves. And many of them are teetering on the edge of bankruptcy already. That's why Medicaid and medicaid expansion was put in place in the first place. Now Medicaid funding is being taken away. 700 hospitals serving the rural poor (tRump-tards) in this country may just go away.

They're poor. They can't just pay more out of pocket when the only hospital in 100 miles just ceases operation.

The locals can't fund them in a shithole Red State with a shithole economy. That's why the federal government stepped in to help in the first place.

Your solution is that the poor should just be more careful when it comes to measles, heart attacks, accidents, cancer from the polluted water they are forced to drink, etc. Or maybe they should just cooperate and die instead of getting older. Said like a true Evangelical Jesus Freak. Fuck the poor. Nice! Really validates the hypocrisy of your religious morality.

as it is, cannot react to that as is: hospitals had problems long time, we've go serious problems, and some hospitals collapsed already. you wouldn't believe what surgeons make yearly... cost to run such an organization... not to mention keep well trained nurses running the show.
