Actual refugees? Of course.
Should we also approach them with caution? Yes.
Just because a person is seeking asylum doesn’t mean that they aren’t part of one problem or another. That’s why the system for admitting refugees works the way it does.
Also, that word gets thrown around a lot lately, wildly out of context. Not everyone who comes here is trying to leave their old life behind. Some are traffickers in drugs and slaves. Some are agents of chaos for criminal organizations.


Being compassionate does not require that we be naive.
