Also, is living on welfare not enough to avoid ending up homeless? because i know of a guy, he has been unemployed for most of his life, i asked him how does he manage to support himself financially since he's unemployed, he responded by saying "Welfare and I live with my Mother".

To me that sounds like, if his mother was dead, he is at high risk of ending up homeless.

Fundamentally we have a flaw of thinking welfare as a charity action. Once you meet a threshold of income you get cut off. It's human instinct to make the best of bad situation and you play the game.

My view is that the majority of their income comes from a government source which could be "earned" or "unearned" as well as means tested or for their dependent minors.

There are many families of multigenerational welfare recipients. In osme cases it is the family business. My wife has a cousin that had 6 kids from5 different guys and never married any of them. She lives in half of her father's two family house in some kind of Section 8 scam. She gets an EBT card, Medicaid and a month check on top of it all. The last time we saw her she was telling everyone about her last trip to Disneyworld.

Everyone gets welfare of some sort. Be it tax breaks for billionaire, food stamps for working poor, to disability checks for vets.
