Thats the secret, he never had control. Trump is not a competent administrator. He does not have the talent required to do it and even worse he does not have enough staff or ability to hire enough competent staff to perform the basic functions of government.

Even if we ignore all the people that Trump fired from the federal government, he basically never filled any of the positions in the first place. The government is practically abandoned outside of some people at the top, many of which is already having to perform multiple jobs to try cover for the vacancies.

And while yes, we can talk about how Trump is trying to use this as his Reichstag moment but it sort of misses the point of how pathetic this all is.

As I answered elsewhere to a similar question, I'm Australian, in Australia, not affected by the current global news story of protests in California or whatever the descriptive words are etc etc, - regardless of my political opinions on Republicans, Democrats, America, local politics, global politics etc - it's the responsibility of all people to be good citizens, obey laws and for the authorities to keep the peace. Im hopeful everything will be normal within a week / within the week and the authorities will keep the peace. I think most countries worldwide have laws about "keeping the peace" or "similar." Im no lawyer. Not academic either. 🙂
