All I know is, when you have protestors in the streets, especially ones being a bit ‘difficult’, it is best to get as little Federal govt intervention as possible to keep crowds calm.

President Trump saw the civil unrest and decided the best course of action was to send in The National Guard which led to public outcry getting worse therefore tensions heightened. With rumors brewing President Trump would send in Marines, the protestors got more aggressive with their numbers which now President Trump is sending in 700 Marines which is escalating the situation not deescalating as we would like to see.

All this stemmed from ICE moving into LA to look for undocumented immigrants which led to protestors assembling against ICE and their actions.

Trump and his Border Czar are going to make empty threats of arresting Democrats to pour fuel to the flame of riots / outrage to stir a public narrative. Gavin Newsom is suing The Federal Government to make sure Presidential Powers are limited, that he can’t just send ICE wherever he well damn please to prevent abuse of powers never seen before in an apparent power struggle.

LA was handling this until the Office of The President jumped in, now look at the mess happening. People are shocked, but this happened in 2020 as well with all the protests going on. This isn’t new. There are case studies that go back decades and in movies, being the “strong man” doesn’t do anything but what will is decreased government involvement. I’d tell Trump to “get a grip”. That is what a real leader would do, unlike this bully.

I saw a literal clip of a reporter getting hit with a rubber bullet just for doing her job, reporting live on the scene. She wasn’t harming anyone, unless you count words hurting these thugs’ feelings. This is despicable, imagine if Obama or Biden did that in Ohio or Texas or Florida, there would be public outrage especially if they called for the arrest of Desantis. Pathetic, this is wrong.

If only Gov Newsome had taken sufficient action to protect ICE and the police. If only the communicated and gave confidence their law enforcement would be protected. They did not do that, they did the opposite.

There's some democrats whom were making statements publicly against ICE that should be hauled before court. Jeffries? See Tom Homans statements about what ICE was doing and whom they were arresting and decide if it was legit. What's troublesome is Democrats don't seem to respect ICE under Trump admin, when they did support it under Biden... Biden kicked out a large number, but ignored others... like the criminals Homan says were being arrested. It be good to see the facts of whom they were arresting.

I find it ming boggling how Democrats can be on the wrong side of this issue over and over, but it is what it is... violation of immigration enforcement accumulated over decades... has turned into fear of those immigrants being deported to their awful country, where they may have nothing and no support. They might fight to stay, can't blame them.. their countries are garbage.

That fear can cause a lot of caualties if it blows...

The sum total of it, is the responsibility of a bunch of prior governments. Trump attempting to clean it up.

Biden followed the LAW and applied the right to due process LIKE EVERYONE should do. Dozy Donny doesn't believe in the law, he sees a skin colour that isn't orange enough and accent that isn't DUmerican then deems them "illegal" aliens

If Biden wanted them to stay, he could have made them citizens.

@msc545 I'm not at all worried about this situation as I'm Australian in Australia and this is merely just a global news story. I feel everything will be back to normal / normality within the week because it is there responsibility of all governments, I guess in any country, to ensure keeping the peace. So regardless of my political views about Republicans, about Democrats, and again I appreciate humanity and human values, compassion, due process, the legal systems: it's important to let the authorities handle the LA news story.

I don't wanna keep making this a long running commentary when my original answer is simply my answer: the authorities and the policing departments of California are more than capable of it would seem from world news more than capable of handling the matters in LA, after all, that's what policing in any part of the world is paid for and its role is to do, is maintain peace, maintain laws and order, and let's all be cool and humble. @ᗰIᑎᑕᕼᗩᑎ live in Los Angeles, but down by the beach, and I am many miles away from the disturbances and I have patients to care for and no time for protesting, even though I am outraged by what has happened and what Trump has done. Every day is a new outrage by this guy.

A few hours ago, our brilliant Mayor, Karen Bass, imposed a curfew on the entire area of disturbance in an effort to cool things off. Donald Trump responded by sending MORE soldiers to make things worse, which is what he wants so he can point to all of it and talk about "violent criminal illegal aliens" - who do not exist.

I am hoping that the curfew helps everyone to stay calmer and as safe as possible.

A whole laundry list of things!

We've got one group of people telling us that the protestors are peaceful, law abiding, folk while video news reporting tells us the opposite. We have people from the other side threatening to make arrests based on alleged obstructions of federal government functions. We have a lawsuit that's more theatrical than meritorious. We have national guard troops being made available but seemingly not deployed (or at least minimally deployed). Both situations involve cops mistakenly shooting blonde ladies: Ashly Babbitt on J6, and that reporter got shot with a rubber bullet in LA.

And perhaps most strikingly to my eyes; both situations feature groups of people who are protesting what they believe to be a fundamental abuse of federal law.
