It's utter shit in my experience. I hated LA more than any other part of the US. As a caveat, I was in the Burbank and Hollywood area.
Like I couldn't count the times some snobby prick with a sarcastic tone borderline stereotypical gay criticized me for what I ate or did that was not environmentally-friendly or some shit like that while driving his eco-friendly car while I rode around in a pickup truck with 18 miles to the gallon. I offended some girl over there where she talked about dolphins and I said I love tuna with extra dolphin servings in it as a joke. Only for her to be so steamed that she just turned her head away and gave me the cold shoulder for the rest of the night.
What a bunch of "faggots". I'm talking about the girls too. I'm using "faggots" in a creative way here. I'm cool with homosexuals as long as they don't lecture me about how white rice is low in fiber.
I really hated LA. It's one of my least favorite places on the planet. And I traveled a lot. The traffic fucking sucks balls too. Then I drive around my team and make an Asian joke (I'm half-Asian and from Japan!) when I nearly get in a wreck and one of the faggots I'm driving around gets so offended that he can't talk to me and reports me to HR where I gotta get racial sensitivity training. Bunch of fags.
I love Texans. Texans are cool. I hate LA types at least in Burbank and Hollywood. I went to Compton one time and the guys I met there were way cooler. So maybe it's not all of LA.
It's like the capital of male feminists. Doormat ass-kissing environment-friendly cunts. At least in Burbank and Hollywood area. Dolphin-rescuing climate-change paranoid virtue-signaling assholes. I hate those people.
I stumbled into Compton by accident. I asked the one at my hotel (company rented me hotel room the whole time) about the most dangerous and cool place to hang out in LA because I was going insane with the usual Burbank/Hollywood company. And the hotel receptionist said Compton has the highest crime rates, by far. So I immediately took a taxi to a bar in Compton. Then I found my people there. They get it. But Burbank people don't get it.
Do you mean NORMAL life and not what it has been like the last month?
The traffic has gotten way out of hand; half the time I wound up cancelling my plans because the logistics of getting to where I wanted was so daunting. This may not be the case now because of covid-19, but on the other hand all the events you would want to see are cancelled anyway.
And if you want to leave Australia to escape wildfires, California is not the place to be. Similar ecosystem in terms of fire.
L. A. is also pretty expensive compared to most of U. S., though not as bad as the S. F. Bay Area.
Finding a job WAS pretty easy as of the beginning of the year, but right now things are largely shut down and who knows when that will end.
It was good once decades ago. Now it's a dystopian shit hole where the deputy city attorney caught typhus right at the city hall. Floods of illegal aliens make up a lot of the population, gangs are rampant it's something like an emerging communist country, third world style corruption, disease, drugs , people shitting in the streets. Not at all what it was once.
Its nice and peaceful even in the ghuetto areas till you come across corrupted government officials that are living amoung your neighborhood i despise corrupted government officials and snitches that sell out to them.
