It's not just GAG. The Reich Wing invades every chat room on the internet. I think it comes from a few primary sources.

1.) State owned bad actors looking to destabilize the US government and economy. Russia and China mainly.

2.) A domestic fringe Fascist terrorist element looking to do pretty much the same thing as the foreign state owned bad actors. Th Klan, Oaf Creepers, 3% Brain Function, etc.

3.) The MAGA losers who think they've finally won at something. They essentially feel they've been told it's OK to crawl out of the sewers they came from and spew their hate in all directions. They think electing tRump means they are smart and their opinions have value when their entire lives, people have looked down on them as worthless filth to be avoided. Pssst... they didn't suddenly get any smarter.

Because the left lost the plot and instead of accepting sensible stances they went with unreasonable ones. That makes everyone who would have been traditionally liberal right wing.
