Who are better drivers overall men or women?

I know that I am going to open up a debate with this one, but this is something that I would like to know. If women's insurance rates are lower up to a certain age because men are involved in more accidents, how come the stereotype is that women are worse drivers than men? I have often wondered this. I don't understand how this can be the stereotype that we are worse drivers than men, when the statistics may say otherwise. What do you know about this? Feel free to share your opinions.

Even if the data is collected responsibly and reported empirically, the whole picture is not necessarily portrayed.
Even today, women don’t always have their own insurance. Though a woman might have an accident, her husband might file the claim. Many accidents are not reported to police or filed with insurance. I used to work with a guy whose wife crashed her car into their house and garage multiple times. There’s no point in reporting it. They are still responsible for all of the damages and their insurance rates go up. Same woman crashed into bollards at gas stations, parked cars at work, etc.
Additionally, a poll was conducted with nearly two thousand traffic cops. The majority of whom admitted to letting women out of tickets far more often than men. So even traffic violations that don’t result in accidents aren’t being equally monitored for men and women. The majority of respondents who said that they never let women off the hook were female officers. As more fair and balanced policing increases, the statistics will change as well.
All the statistics tell us is that men are more likely than women to be ticketed and/or arrested for traffic violations and that men are more likely to claim damages against their insurance. That doesn’t necessarily mean women are better drivers, but that they are better protected by the systems in place, i. e. “the patriarchy”.

Data form Uber suggests that men are better drivers as they consistently complete more trips than women drivers working the same territory at the same time. The men are just as safe as women but complete their trips more quickly on average.
