Who's the better driver? Men or Women?

Question

It's often said that men are better drivers than women.

Men are involved in more accidents than women, but men drive much more than women.

Women can sometimes be seen putting on their makeup while driving, and who talks more on their cellphone while driving? Women do.

I don't think it's gender-based. I think it's personality based.

For example, I drive with my eyes on the road no matter wtf is going on anywhere else in the car. I've always been the designated driver, etc. ok.

My (younger female) colleague chatters on and turns her whole head to look at whoever she's talking to while she's operating the vehicle, which prompts me to recite a whole rosary while she's driving. It's literally a struggle not to kiss the ground when we arrive to our destination. But my mom taught me to drive and she's the best driver I know. Flawless record, OCD when it comes to "her baby" (that's the car, not me, I'm just "her daughter" (lol)).

HOWEVER the same can be said of guy friends who are trying to keep looking over while they're driving. One guy argued that I'm visually distracting (so anyone who hates woman can cling to that one), but most of them are just gregarious sorts of people and like to look at the person they're talking to when they talk.

Women are more likely to have a car parking oopsie while men are more likely to do something stupid like overtake a tractor on a blind bend and have a head on collision.

If you look at death tables or walk around a graveyard there's a clear spike in deaths around late teens early twenties. They're virtually all men.

I was T-boned on my motorcycle by a woman who ran a red light and totalled my bike and I was stuck under it between her car and my bike but relatively unscathed. I was the one who had to console her when she (and her two kids in the back of the car) burst into tears after it.
Another time on the way to college I was passing a woman in my car when she turned right into my pathway without indicating and I ran into the back of her car. She was wearing her dressing gown and a pair of slippers like she was just out of bed.

So I've had a few run ins with women drivers and have driven cars, bikes, vans and trucks (even military Rolls Royce's lol) and find much greater confidence with men drivers than women.

I think that men have slightly better spatio-temporal coordination, which should make them a little bit better at driving, but men also tend to be more aggressive, which makes them worse drivers.

I'm a woman and was always a damn great driver!!

Then I'd be in the car with my ex-husband (who by the way got into a car accident with MY car within our first month of marriage) and he would miss the freeway exit to where we lived.

So I chose women! I didn't do any of that stupid stuff!!

Women drive too cautious and try toulti task on top of that in over all driving I would go with guys when you think about truck drivers butmy exgirlfriend had her cdl she was pretty good my sister she sucks women like to tail gate a lot also I always thought there should have been a womens nascar it would be so popular I bet more entertaining

haven't met many women that can drive a manual especially a 3, 6, 8, or 10 speed. Double clutch, floating gears are generally foreign vocabulary to most women who do have the ability to drive a 5 speed.

These statements are not 100% accurate of course. In fact my uncle actually taught the Force daughter to drive Top Fuel.

I've had more accidents in my life caused by women. I have been rear-ended by a woman driving while she was talking on the phone. And then I was sideswiped by a woman and did quite a bit of damage to my car. My car was 6 months old. I have found that women are very super cautious when they drive and they talk to themselves or I should say they drive while you're driving to get to where they want to be. And they at times caused accidents.

Neither gender is better at driving than the other. We both have our individual set of strengths and weaknesses. As @olderandwiser pointed out, men have better spatial awareness. Which means women are more likely to cause a minor accident, like a fender bender. Men, however, typically drive much more aggressively. We are much more likely to have an accident that causes a fatality.

In Canada men cause a lot of accidents on the road, I don't know which one is particularly better though.

it's a matter of thinking, training, skills. Men put in more effort to handling adverse scenarios.

As to which pays attention better... it's possible women are better multi taskers, but thinking they are may create even more problems which would show up in death statistics.

I've seen terrible drivers sometimes I wonder how this people got their driver's licenses licenses. I saw a guy texting and driving. And a woman texting, doing her makeup and driving with her knees.

Men have better skills at it but also drive too aggressive and get into trouble but better at judging spaces

Actually, women are involved in more accidents, but men are involved with more fetal accidents.  All I know is the women in live are terrible drivers and the men aren't.
