No. If the us military had in vietnam the tech they have now like drones, laser guide bombs, satellite imagery, CROWs weapon systems, night vision, thermal obtics and of course body armour and the new M7 rifle with its lightweight long range round and its smart scope then the vietcong and NVA would have been slaughtered very easily.

Will give you a more recent example in Afghanistan. When you compare the us 20 year occupation of Afghanistan & invasion/ occupation of iraq to the Russian war in Afghanistan which was only 12 years b4 9/11 and the Vietnam war well its a difference of day and night. The taliban & alqueda were basically knocked out in months and forced to retreat for 20 years to Pakistan. In Iraq in a month every piece of military equipment was destroyed and every Iraqi soldier had surrendered or been killed and that's because the us military was able to easily pick off armor and soldiers in the field day or night. Now that was 20 years ago, with the tech today it would be an Iranian bloodbath.
