The United States has entered Israel’s war against Iran.

American warplanes dropped bombs on three nuclear sites in Iran, President Trump announced on Saturday night, bringing the U. S. military directly into the war after days of uncertainty about whether he would intervene.

A risky move, probably a bad one. Is it the opposite of Pearl Harbor... thing is it wasn't sudden and deliberate... he did what he said he would do, either agree not to have such weapons or get bombed. They told him to F off, so bombed them out. Delay only.

So some will respect him, others will fight to their deaths to counter the insult. Nobody likes a bully, even the short little kid that knows he will suffer... will save his pride. How much more will Persians fight? What of all those rogue groups in Iran? Or are Iranians fed up with Ayatollah hanging them in the public square and push for regime change?

Im thinking he was supposed to get congress approval for a strike on another country... which wouldn't happen.

Where are those Iranian subs and the navy... they haven't been touched. That's the next issue... how to get out of this while keeping SofH open.

Donald J Trump succeeded in his need for a distraction from his unpopular proposals, GOP Civil War, and constant media battering from ‘TACO Policy’, also for failing his campaign promises and continuing to make Americans look like fools for their #1 clown in town.

Things will get worse for all. I remember the whole “No New Wars” and ending Israeli / Ukrainian conflicts which succeeded at neither and continue to prove that the mandate a difference of 1,363,450 votes “wanted” doesn’t work for America First, it puts us last on the world stage.

I don't think a real war has started yet. Maybe Trump thought that since Iran is blaming us for helping Israel then we may as well not make them liars. Trump showed that he wasn't bluffing and he gave them time to fix everything, but they passed on the offer and called their bluff. I'm interested in seeing what Iran's next move will be.

In fact that we are at a word, it's not automatically mean that Trump can continue to be the president for as long as the war lasts. I'm not sure where you got that idea. We hold elections in the middle of wars and under normal times we pay attention to the results of those elections.

He may use this as an excuse to stop the midterm elections, is my guess. Congress will not stop him. He will hopefully be president less than 3 more years, if not less than that. We are not at war ourselves yet, but we sure began something the Iranians will seek retaliation for. There are high alerts everywhere now in larger cities.

If you’ll recall, this exact situation was why Trump reneged on Obama’s (and subsequently Biden’s) deal with Iran. He was trying to avoid this conflict, but the establishment insisted on leaning into it.


Obama and Biden funded Iranian nuclear capabilities. Trump didn’t. And even in the days leading up to this attack, Trump tried to get Iran to back down. The only reason Ayatollah didn’t need to was because of that funding.


So convicted felon or not; Trump didn’t start this war. He’s cleaning up other people’s stupidity.

Control of national guard troops. President is expressly given the authority to duly and faithfully execute the laws.

Really? Do you know enough physics to build one? I had 8 semesters of college physics and I don't, so I doubt you do. It is very expensive as well as difficult, as evidenced by the fact that the Iranians have spent a long time and a lot of money working on it.

@msc545 When I was in college there was a lot of information about building an atomic bomb/. It is really just a spring loaded device that smashes two objects together. The hard part is getting the fissionable material.
Iran hates Israel and hates the US almost as much. They are not interested in developing a nice economy for their citizens. All they care about is hate and killing. They will never change.

Those two objects have to be a precise size and shape, and a specific distance apart, and travel together at a specific velocity and acceleration. They are made from plutonium. Good luck making them and the trigger and all the rest of it.

How do you know what Iran wants and thinks - do you talk to them, or do you just swallow right-wing propaganda?

yes, all parameters that can be found on the internet. The bomb itself can be made but the plutonium is hard to get.
Way back in the 70s a student at MIT submitted plans for a nuclear bomb to one of his professors. Somehow the feds saw this and realized it was the real thing, They arrested the kid and found that he got all the information from books he found in the library. This was before the internet was a thing.

I think it kind of depends on how you define war in this context. You are right that we are not at war in the sense that it was approved by Congress to being started by Trump and yet we can accord to multiple examples of undeclared wars that were undoubtedly wars such as Vietnam. Vietnam was started because of an incident in the Gulf of Tonkin that of course never actually occurred and was simply based on a lie. 50,000 Americans were killed in that non-war.

Well, we are not at war. There are no soldiers anywhere doing any fighting. Our Navy was attacked with missiles by a foreign country. Yemen. We responded and defended ourselves and attacked those weapons and stockpiles and instruments that can attack us. Done. We have gone back to a peace. As long as no one shoots at our forces again we are at peace.
The world's largest sponsor of terror is on the cusp of getting a nuclear bomb. We took out (I guess we did, who knows if they were destroyed or not we just have to take with a grain of salt what "experts" say). We hit those 3 sites. We are done.
At this moment we are done. We are at peace.
Israel and Iran are having a conflict.

Hey, things can happen in the future. At that time we can all re-assess thing. Right now we are at peace. We are not at war.

Again, it depends on your definition of war you listed all sorts of criteria and I'm not necessarily in disagreement with them, but I think they are also unique to you. War is probably to find differently by different societies and different people. My choice is the legal definition of war in our country.
