5.9K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. 18 U. S. Code § 700 - "Whoever knowingly mutilates, defaces, physically defiles, burns, maintains on the floor or ground, or tramples upon any flag of the United States shall be fined under this title or imprisoned for not more than one year, or both."
I actually don't think it should be illegal. It should be covered as free speech under the 1st Amendment. There's nothing sacred about it. It's just that some people think disrespect for the flag is offensive.
Plus, we have American flags on paper plates, paper napkins, bikini bottoms, and all kinds of things. Some of those things desecrated.
Anyway, desecration of the American flag doesn't rise to the level of hate crime. So I agree 10,000% that it's insane to call desecration of a LGBTQ flag a hate crime. Fuck that. I think that flag is offensive. It does not deserve legal protection.12 Reply- 11 mo
posting here as I agree, 100%. I'd much rather see people in public whom deface the flag so I know who they are. Hate crime is a slippery sloap towards something we don't want to be. Freedom of speech must be protected, the right to say "I don't like this" and generally, disagree.
A neighbor complained to me about my flag... which I displayed old and shriveled, so they bought me a new one. I complied and put up the new shiny flag, but I much prefer my old worn flag. In the interest of peace, I let it be. don't know whom they are, they left a note and flag. Some people suffer terribly for that flag, so must respect them, even if all that happens under the flag, does not feel good.
Anonymous(18-24)11 moThe radical left that call themselves "woke" lose their mind if anyone defaces or destroys a pride flag, yet their are totally fine with doing that to an American flag. They are so indoctrinated by their woke teachers and other school faculity, they claim that the mere sight of an American flag causes them to have panic attacks and anxiety. They are literally being programmed to hate the US Flag, hate the constitution, and hate democracy. These people now claim to be socialist like Hitler. The lesson here is, HOMESCHOOL YOUR KIDS! Do it before you lose them.

11 moNo, it has been protected as a freedom under the first amendment to the US Constitution. Even conservatives dogged on Drumpf last year when he suggested revoking that protection and making burning the US flag a crime.
The problem is now there are some people who want to make flag burning a hate crime when they claim some entitlement to a given flag and whatever they think it symbolizes. Any halfwit knows that weaponizing the legal system to marginalize political dissenters is fascism. In the name of preserving our democratic republic…
IF we start doing that, THEN we should absolutely criminalize destroying the US flag as an act of treason. We wouldn’t want one group to enjoy rights that another group is denied.20 Reply 5.7K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. The gays don't get to collect taxes and use said taxes that you pay to imprison you or have the police rough you up.
The state has near infinite resources and seeing how they make all of the laws, our constitution made it a point to have higher standards to allow punching down.
The usa flags got unkle same and he has his priorities and police officers on the pay roll. The gays don't got an unkle sam. The gays historically get murder in broad daylight with unkle sam turning a blind eye.
00 Reply711 opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. It depends on whether they own the flags they are burning. It should not be legal to burn flags that are owned and on the property of others. If they purchased the flags, the best response is to drive on and pay no more attention than you pay to someone sweeping the streets. Without the attention of news cameras and people paying attention, it only wastes their time and money.

11 moIt's disgusting but no they should not be charged for a hate crime, it is a freedom that my grandfather, father and two brothers fought for. My guess is however that the MAGA Creeps think it is a crime worth the death penalty, but attempting to attack and attempt to track down and kill a sitting vice president who wouldn't support his boss who was attempting to overthrow and election was perfectly ok.

Why would anyone give a rats ass what happens to the rainbow flag?
Anonymous(36-45)11 moideally, i don't think burning any flag should be a crime. but as we all know, you can poop and go pee pee on the American Flag and you get your booty hole tickled by those upholding the law, while if you do anything to flags of another country or the alphabet community, you get a big spanking and not the fun kind. Going by THOSE rules, the American Flag SHOULD receive those same protections under the law.
11 Reply2.3K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. I remember one 4th of July in 1990 some drunk idiot burned the flag down the street. My neighbor went down there with his AR-15 and made the guy put out of the fire at gunpoint. The cops came and told my neighbor good job now take your gun back inside your house or something like that haha
10 Reply1.3K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. @dongie If you burn another countries flag in their streets and spit on it, they would probably kill you!
11 ReplyProbably not? Who's the target group in that case? Pretty sure flag burning has a pretty long history as a form of protest, so even if it was somehow intended that way, I'm fairly sure that particular action is still protected.
20 Reply8.1K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. I don't know about hate crime, the concept of hate crimes in general is retarded anyway. I'd say it should be illegal to be done in pulbic places like the middle of the street because fire can spread and innocent people can get caught up in it if it gets out of control. Flag retirement ceremonies are a thing so it would be a mistake to criminalize flag burning in general.

11 moCourts have ruled that burning the American flag is protected speech under the First Amendment. Not everyone agrees with that, but freedom comes with a price.

11 moThat's why we are free. I watch Tennessee Brando who often tells this story his grandfather who fought in war. Brando says that at the time, he wanted people arrested for this very thing but his grandfather explained that this was a right that he fought for despite his own personal feelings.

don't mean much to me--I got no connection to it. but yeah, that is a hate crime. here's the difference: one flag represents the government. the other flag represents a group of people.

I'm talking about you, fool. ask yourself this: why did Germen' burn the Nazi flag? what happened to Germans who burned the Nazi flag? ''Racial Discrimination:
In the 2024 Best Countries for Racial Equity rankings, the U. S. ranked 55th out of 89 countries assessed. This is an improvement from its 2023 ranking of 73rd.
It's important to note that the U. S. has a history of racial discrimination and systemic inequalities, which contribute to ongoing challenges in achieving full racial equity.
Poverty:
The U. S. has one of the highest rates of poverty among developed nations.
In 2019, the U. S. had the third highest poverty rate among all OECD countries.
However, the U. S. poverty rate has been decreasing since 2014, although it saw a slight increase in 2020, potentially due to the pandemic.
Poverty rates are disproportionately higher among people of color compared to white populations in the U. S.
In 2022, Native American and Black people had the highest share of individuals living below the poverty line.
States like Mississippi have a higher share of residents living below 200 percent of the poverty level compared to states like New Hampshire.
Overall, the U. S. faces significant challenges in both racial equity and poverty. While there have been improvements in racial equity rankings, it's crucial to address the systemic issues that contribute to these ongoing disparities.'' we're not ''God's Chosen''. if the bullshit that you're spewing is true--why are our troops treated like shit when they come home? Try harder. Fool spool idiot! Here's something for your wax-packed ears. The freedom to destroy the flag like a low-bred trailer park hooker is not my problem. I am for all the freedom fought for by the brave men who did so. Some ending their lives while doing so and some not even 20 years old. It's the so-called crime of burning the cultist flag that represents the left-wing socialist people. We recognize ONE flag. 🇺🇲 and by the Grace of God she's about to turn 250 years old. ✝️

Anonymous(30-35)11 moHate crime no. But it should be at least a fineable offence. It is a crime that can land someone in prison in a lot of other countries plus a fine. If the government wants to make some cash, they can put this in place.
