Isn't appearance more important than anything else?

Do you think that appearance is not given much importance in society? If you look very good, no one cares what you do, whether your financial situation is bad or whether your character is bad. Why?

No. The way I see it being good looking actually has more disadvantages than advantages. Many people would make assumptions about you. They'd assume you're a "typical player/fuck boy" or "Pretty but dumb woman" or "arrogant" for looking good at taking care of appearance.

If you're a shy/reserved or introverted person and like to keep a low profile, you'd struggle because you're going to get a lot of unwanted attention and get harassed.

Many would be interested in you only for the wrong reasons. They would use you for showing off to others or use for sex without caring to know about you deeply.

You would struggle to form genuine connections. Many people including some of your friends would feel threatened by you because they feel you'd steal their partner or get their crush's attention and eventually break friendship with you

If you look good but your character is bad or you have a terrible personality... it's not going to help you in the long run

Looks is an asset like wealth and others consider being together with attractive people as social status increase. Personality matters but without other assets it has not much value because without being useful in terms of being a decoration for someone's ego or being financially exploitable most people won't even let person close enough to recognize ones personality.
We are just animals and those are rules of this zoo.
