What's the point of empires?

The empire country vacuums resources out of the vassal countries and also preys on people's labor and their indigenous knowledge. But the empire countries always think they are superior and claim that they are bringing civilization to the more "primitive" vassal countries.

The Roman empire survived by bringing riches home from conquered countries.
British elites got wealthy by using corporations to plunder countries around the world.
And the USA does the same thing. Whenever a country wants to profit from its own resources, the U. S. calls it socialism and overthrows the government.

The same as a job. Any organization pretty much runs the same. That's where the whole we're a family bit comes in.

Unit A allows for B, C etc to operate. They operate so as to enable A. In a perfect situation all benefit. In most real ones, A provides enough benefit, and pressure, to maintain its position while leeching up the largest share possible.

Still pretty convenient we have a legal system, police and more if I want to work with pottery or I'd need to also defend myself all the time. Countries are the same way, just change the scale.

They allow easy trade across different countries.
They unite people who perhaps would once fight.
They open up opportunities outside of your own country.
You get protection from outside forces.
Ideas and cultures are shared.
You get a common language.
