What's one disturbing thing you found out about someone you know?

This guy that was around my age when I was in high school used to walk me home from school. I didn't like him or anything like that and I honestly found him quite annoying, turned out to be a murderer years later.

He started murdering elderly women which I can't say I'm totally shocked by because he did seem off but I never would have thought I would have been walking with a future murderer.

Quite disturbing and makes you think how often are you to meet a murderer?

WOW! I knew people that I thought might become serial killers but as far as I know, they never did. My story is mainly about my mom but partly me also. She had a teacher friend that came over occasionally with his wife and they both seemed really nice and friendly but my mom would say how in other social gatherings, the wife would get drunk and start to belittle him and intentionally embarrass him in front of his colleagues. She pretty much knew he was also verbally abused by her at home but he was always very nice. Well, one night at a mutual friend's Christmas party, his wife started telling everyone how lousy he was in bed and couldn't satisfy her, my mom said she could see the rage in his eyes as he just stood there and took it. The next day she got a phone call that he beat her to death after they left the party. I guess the neighbors could hear them arguing and then heard her screaming and called the cops. By the time they the cops got there, I guess she was already dead. My mom couldn't believe it, because she'd known him for years and I was shocked because he did seem like just a nice person.

So meeting someone like your off, annoying childhood acquaintance is highly unlikely. But the point is, you always knew there was something odd about this guy. Just "not right." And you didn't like being around him.

I've only found out something disturbing from one woman I briefly had as a roommate. She was raped repeatedly by an uncle when she was 7 or 8. She was a very bright person at age 19 in college when I met her, but she was terribly emotionally unstable and. used to have screaming fits. I had to ask her to leave. I couldn't room with her. But her situation was very sad. I think because of what happened to her she became obese and she was terribly unhappy. I hope she's found some resolution and goodness in her life. Her. name was Jan.

Wow that's crazy. I'm glad you're ok. Most of the time I found out stuff about people realitively at the beginning.

But I did live with two people once who were abusing each other. That was not fun. He was like a gaslighter and manipulator and she got super angry and innitiated physical violence. I guess his case was the closest I've experienced to yours. He seemed chill and nice in the beginning. I did have some gut feelings where I felt something wasn't right with him but as long as other people were still there he was kept in check and so I thought it was alright. Only after a few people moved out did things start to get worse and worse. When he felt he had the upper hand that's when he became abusive. And since he was the one subletting the place and we were less and less people over time he started feeling more confident.

I definitely learned from this experience. I'm usually quite perceptive when it comes to people with bad intentions, abusive tendencies or whatever. But because other people were confronting him he couldn't fully "be himself". And I wasn't paying attention I had enough other stuff going on.

But it's ok I lost some money because he was a greedy scumbag too even though he was earning over 100 k a year he was still trying to get money out of people in any way he could think of. But I got out of there and now I'm doing great :)

I knew a maintenance guy that worked and lived in the same townhouses I was living at at the time , he was the one that fixed and serviced anything that was broken in the townhomes , so he has been in my townhome a bunch of times when things were broken , When I saw him , he was friendly to talk to and I thought he was a nice guy , He was always friendly when I saw him , He told me his whole life story on how he was divorced and his kids are older etc… Long story short the police surrounded his townhome and arrested his ass , come to find out he had 2 little girls’ toed up in his basement that he was molesting for a good year or so , I heard someone in my development busted him somehow

I did have this childhood neighbor/friend... and of course I was friendly with the older brother too, the parents till one day... we're hanging out at his house, and out of nowhere, he's gone, can't find at his room, living room patios, nowhere... I go around to ask the mother and I see her breastfeeding him while they're both standing and I am like WTF is going on!!

I froze for what it seemed to be an eternity, but it was less than a split second... the way she did smirk at me, I still don't look back none of them if I ever happen to see them somewhere around... lmao

I also knew a murderer growing up. He was my older brothers best friend, went to our church, always at my house for sleepovers. He got kicked out of his parents house at 18 so he moved in with a random couple as roommates. One day the guy was at work, he came home the girl was there (she was 7 months pregnant) he was really high on drugs and just went crazy beating her and eventually stabbed her like 40 times in the belly. Her and the baby died so double homicide. Really crazy considering he was basically like family

I taught a kid who got involved with criminal gangs and drugs. He ended up jailed for involvement in crime. Another is a bit different but it was a British soldier killed by US pilots in Iraq which was covered up by the US military but the British court described it as unlawful killing (the whole thing was leaked as video footage from the pilots cockpit). They hadn't paid attention at their briefing about friendly forces in their area OR the clear markings on the vehicles of allies. Notoriety it isn't but he was a soldier i served with a few years before this happened.

My neighbour who became a friend was obsessed with me and even collected couple of strands of my hair in a book and pretended to be sick just to make me come over at night and show how much I mean to him and also realised he was stalking me for months before he approached me for the first time.

I did not directly know this person, but I found out they had raped and murdered someone and then they themselves were later found dead.

It's like I tell people: you don't always know someone like you think you do. Plenty of people who seemed like good neighbors or great people in the community have shockingly turned out to be killers, rapists, or monsters holding women or children hostage in their basements for months or even years.

I guess it would have to be that this guy I had been seeing finally told me that he laid down with men before. It took him 8 months to tell me that and it was over right then and there because I never looked at him the same way after that shocking news!

I kind of knew this guy through a best friend who was working in a convenient store in high school, 1979, he died of aids in 1986. I found out 7 or 8 years later from another friend that had been roommates with him. He had become successful in computer shit back in the early 80s. Well nobody knew he was guy and it really shocked my old friend when I told him about the guy dying of aids. It kind of sucks. He was exceptionally nice and very smart. His name was Terry.
