Should officers of the law be continuedly allowed to get away with using unnecessary force / police brutality in order to subdue a criminal?

There needs to be higher penalties to pay for being a bad apple.

Police are supposed to ‘protect and serve’ under the eyes of the law , when they do police brutality , unnecessary chokeholds / kneeling on someone’s neck till they can’t breath , and do other heinous crap to “subdue a criminal” then that is downright wrong.

I was always taught you are innocent until proven guilty, so they should always and I mean always take you into custody with the intension for you to stand trial not treat you like dirt.

We need to reallocate funds back into training so, we can train cops to not be so aggressive. There are situations that call for aggression , holding down a combatant , and pushing no good pieces of crap around though the ones that lead to a death that hits at the heart of the community they swore to protect and serve is heinous , downright criminal , and not a mistake you want our amazing boys in blue to be at the center of. It isn’t good look for cops everywhere so, hold the bad apples accountable so we can respect the force without question.

the situation with immigrants is different I suspect, but who knows what the threat is to them. some of those they catch are dangerous... most probably not. the ones not dangerous pay the price for the dangers of the others. that's always the case in society.

As soon as the criminal poses an immediate threat, they can use substantial force. As soon as the criminal shows a weapon, like a gun or knife, they repeatedly tell them to drop it. If they refuse to, cops are allowed to shoot them. Cops that go too far with things are on bodycam and they do get punished and/or fired for it. The overall U. S. law enforcement is stellar compared to other countries. It’s just that there are well over a million of them so if a few videos of bad cops go up in one week it seems like it’s an epidemic. In reality it’s an extremely small number of police interactions when compared to all of them, nation wide. So you’re egregiously false premise is seriously out of touch with reality.

In 99.9% of cases of so called "unnecessary force" / "police brutality", the suspect was resisting arrest, or worse.
