Caught my alcoholic father smoking crack or meth I don't know the difference between the type of pipes? Told grandmother whos only normal support?

What is the next step everytime I've tried dealing with his drinking in the past it ended up violent but this is like next level. He's 50 years old sporting a Mohawk the guy needs psychiatric treatment but "human right laws" will protect him.

Some (many?) addicts need to hit rock bottom before they even consider asking for help. I have a childhood friend spiraling out of control with alcohol, who still tries to convince people how cool and fun he is. I have distanced myself, as any guidance is practically wasted, just as MemeSupreme mentioned.

Using drugs is an addiction, a terrible disease. I got the disease too, mines alchole and opioids. It’s really tough to deal with. Simply just stopping dosent work. Addicts are not selfish people.

that’s why I avoid normal people, too judgmental. They will never get it

i've just accepted i can't help my dad or any addict bc its their choice at the end of the day. detaching yourself is the best way
