How does Europe control their lawyers?

One thing I don't see (and don't miss) endless signs for lawyers in France and Italy. None.

I get the sense if you get hurt, it's your problem. Want a divorice... walk out the door with your 1/2 of the money. How is Europe managing their lawyers? Were they killed in the revolution, WWII? Wiped out by their salaries being so limited/taxed?

We need more of that in USA... less arguing and bickering and legal costs.

That said, I also see a lot of reasonable drivers in France. They stop at stop signs and walkways. In USA, we have way too many idiots... dangerous ones.

Europe is just not as litigious as the US. The amounts of money that is at stake in US court system is off the charts mental. A lot of it is because Lawyers get to set their fees as high as they like and thus make themselves exceptionally wealthy and since the political elites like that wealth they are supported into making it so this can be the situation. That politicians are bought and are expected to deliver in the US this makes it less of a democracy and more of a kleptocracy with a bunch of oligarchy and nepotism all together.

In Germany, they aren’t allowed to do pro bono and fees are often regulated. So there are pluses and minuses. People often have legal insurance there.

There used to be a lot of ads in the UK for no win no fee lawyers but they've largely disappeared. The idea was you'd have to take out insurance against losing which would cover the fee. People would be pushed to sue over stupid little things and it felt like a scam. I'm sure regulations were brought in to stop it.

Courtrooms in Europe are judge-centered, not lawyer-centered. Some countries have a system where judges investigate and question witnesses and there are often negotiations outside of court.

Its varies country by country.

Like in some countries a lawyer gets kicked out of the union for unethical behaviour even if its legal.
