So I was appointed a lawyer to represent me for free to seek a court-ordered paternity test in order to get child support.
I personally don't care for the child support money, as I will only be getting between $20 and $100 per month. If I only get $20, it won't even cover the cost of one tin of baby formula, and if I get $100, it will only buy two tins per month.
I honestly was pushing more to have the guy do a paternity test to not only prove he is the biological father, but I also wanted something on record for my daughter when she is older so that she can have access to information about who he is because I don't want her to be left with questions about him if anything were to happen to me, and I am not here to answer any questions about him that she may have when she is older. However, I found out yesterday when the lawyer contacted me that she is not going to push for the paternity test; instead, she is sending him out declaration forms for him to sign to agree to pay child support. This means if he signs the forms, he won't be made to do the paternity test, and there will be absolutely nothing on record showing or proving he is the biological father. If he doesn't sign the forms, she will push for the paternity test, but if he does, she won't.
I think it is wrong to make a guy pay child support in the first place without there being evidence he is the biological father, so I really don't understand why she won't push for the paternity test. It's so frustrating.
Never once did I say I was wanting the money for myself. I also clearly said I am wanting the test for my daughter so that if anything happens to me like death she won't be left with questions about who he is

You got a fucking FREE lawyer, what you expecting? Also, the purpose of child support is to help the kid, not you. As you are the claimant, it's you that needs to do the test.
